How far is Valencia from a nice sandy beach? If the house has a nice view of the beach and a big pool to do swim laps, it may be okay for hubby. Thank you for looking out for me. I wasn't successful in finding a house to buy when I went to Dumaguete this past November. Six days was not enough so we are planning to rent until we can find a desirable house close to the beach or a lot to build the house in. We'll see how things go when we get there. Thank you, again!

Funny, I did not think Thais liked foreigners. You will find Filipinos who do not like us. But you will many who do.

I see your point, by modern I do not mean luxury, but hot water, fans at least, maybe air con also (but dont use it much), 2 or 3 b/r, 2 bathrooms would be nice, tiled floors,
decent furniture flat screen tv etc.just western style of living,in safe or gated community? A I being over ambitious, will rent till I find something but 15-20k pesos would be what
I am looking for? Thanks you.
I also tried to send you a PM but think I stuffed it up, regarding where to stay for 7 nights in April. GF and I coming to check out Dumaguete as a possible retirement place. I see
a few postings about the traffic problems etc. but that is no different to where I am at the moment - Pattaya Thailand, but live in East side much quieter., I thing you may have mentioned you live in Valencia, and maybe an area Bucalong? I saw on a map that is near the water?

Perhaps you mean "Bacong" which is close to the water.... much closer than Valencia.

Yes stand corrected, if I was more computer savvy, I would have been able to move from the post and find the right name, then return, but I am a bit
of a retard in regards computer skills, thank you.

You can find what your looking for in either place.....for I imagine 15 to 20.000 pesos per month. Just have to search them out.

Thanks Alex, these are similar numbers to Pattaya Thailand, where I am now. When I do the currency conversion, Phils comes out in front. Rents is cheaper there, electricity is
more expensive cells is subjective depending on type of usage, I only spendabout 300bht a month. I tend to have a drinkat home as opposed to bars. We dine out once or twice a week, cheaper but good food places, your food bill seems higher, both wet market and s/market, we spend about 10k bht (13k pesos), so not a lot of difference.

cost of living has risen here by at least 15% over the past couple of years. Sorry I did not reply sooner, just seemed to miss the posting.
