THE Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 welcomed the opening of the Korean Consulate Office in Cebu, saying this development will further strengthen the tourism exchange between Cebu and Korea.

Last week, DOT 7 Director Rowena Montecillo paid a courtesy call on Korean Consul General Lee Ki-seog to discuss the concerns and issues of Korean tourists and how both agencies could work together for Koreans to have a comfortable experience while in the Philippines, particularly in Central Visayas.

While the consular office in Cebu will now be issuing visas for Korea, Montecillo believes their presence in Cebu signifies serious commitment in terms of boosting trade and tourism relationship between two countries.

Korea is the country’s and Cebu’s top source tourism market.

Last year, it kept its position as leading source market with 1.17 million visitors, up by 0.83 percent from its arrivals of 1.16 million in 2013. In Region 7, Korea logged 600,904 arrivals, which is 12.08 percent higher than 536,155 arrivals in 2013.

Koreans certainly are a different "breed" of tourist. I've heard conflicting stories about them. (As it is with almost all tourists.)

A Korean man has bought a lot adjoining my lot, there is an issue with the bounder's. He had a surveyor measure out his lot, which indicated that it was half a meter out in our favor.
A few months later he had another survey which indicated it was half a meter out and we loose the half of meter. I think he might be pulling a fast one.

It don't sound like much, but half a meter along 60 meters is something to be concerned about. So we will have our own survey.
