Businessmen in Negros Oriental supporting the proposed Negros Island Region said they want a transition period first instead of government spending P40 billion to set up a regional center.

Ed Du, president of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said during a forum Tuesday in Dumaguete City with Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of Interior and Local Government that a transition period of perhaps three years will allow the two Negros provinces time to adjust to the new regional structure.

Roxas has endorsed the Negros Island Region proposal to President Benigno Aquino III but he had visited Dumaguete City for another public consultation before proceeding to Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, to inspect the proposed site for the regional offices.

You could build several mall of aisa's with that amount of cash! All they need is one building, who thinks up these hair brained ideas and costs?

40 billion pesos is only 910k USD. That won't get you too far into construction even in the Philippines.

And I even used a calculator! :banghead: Forgot some zeros. So...910 million! So yeah, that's ridiculous. WTF are they going to be building? A whole lot of rich people are going to get even richer!

    Note that this:

Cost 1.5 billion USD to build. Given the average filipino construction worker's salary they could easily pull it off with only 910 million USD. Since this is project is for all of Negros I think they should build one of these in Mabinay and make it the regional capital. :hilarious:

The question is, have these groups actually murdered people and are they carrying illegal firearms? Are they a political group or a rebel group? If they resemble more of a rebel group then they shouldn't be complaining that the laws are being enforced.
