This poll isn't so much about who brings in the money but more about who takes the responsibility to go out and pay the bills. How much is your significant other involved in the household finances? For me it is a shared responsibility. I pay the rent myself but almost everything else my gf takes care of. (This applies while I'm overseas working and while I'm back in the Philippines.) I'd be late on almost every bill if it weren't for her helping out and making sure things get paid. Before she came around I was 10 months or so overdue on my electricity bill....they never shut it off (or even threatened to turn it off) so it never even crossed my mind to pay it. The only reason I would go pay Globe monthly is because they would shut off my internet if I didn't pay. The rent is easy because the landlord simply won't let me forget about that.
Totally and has been since day One. Never had a problem, being a CPA she has the Family Books up to date daily. Only little niggle is sometimes the priorities can get mixed up but I can live with that as long as all is OK . There is food on the table and I get my Pocket Money for my medicinal It is all about Trust and I Got total trust in mine.
In our (small) household it's The Government that handles all financial affairs. We have a BPI account (in The Government's name) and she has the card to withdraw funds if and when required. I made her a tutorial how to do internet banking so she can make transfers from our (joint) accounts @ 'home' to her BPI account when it's running low. She's a wizard with money so I stay out of that game, as long as I have sufficient funds in my wallet for my regular visit to my favourite watering hole...
The wife pretty much pays everything but I usually know where most is going towards. Most of the time I do not even carry money on me if we are together, as well as a wallet or anything else. I may have the one key for the security door as that is the only door that needs a key. Pretty simple life day to day and it seems to work out for us. Shawn
I should have gave her (my fiancé at that time 6 yrs ago) more say in the design of our house. Neither of us really like it today.
That is exactly the way I want to do it. can I ask how easy or complicated it is to have accounts here in the states that you can draw on and or transfer electronically and directly to the Philippines? I appreciate getting a tutorial myself if you wouldn't mind and I can be so bold to ask. I thank you in advance.
I'm afraid I cannot give you the info you're looking for as the 'home' I alluded to is not in the US but in mainland Europe. Maybe one of the other members will be able to help you out. Good luck.
Actually Jack was nice enough to answer and point me in the right direction via a link to PNB and it is a wealth of information I was seeking and it also has a website specifically for the States. But thank you for responding my friend.
