I have fished my whole life but most went free. I am one of those guys who would go to the commissary for flounder or snapper fillets and the occasional catfish fillets. So my long winded question is what folks think are the best tasting fish here? I occasionally find flounder in the market (very tasty) but the wife has a tendency to complain that it is too expensive.

We eat mostly pork and chicken so I would like to add more fresh fish to our diet. Other than dried squid, I am not up for dried fish or the ways the wife and family cooks fish.

Well of course if we are to talk quality of fish with an emphasis on good taste, we should not really count the cost. but.......... as we say, you only get what you pay for

JMHO. Azon is the same about the cost but she enjoys Flounder when we can find it.

Understood, looking for a compromise on cost and taste. Cherry just had flounder a few weeks ago and loved it but she does have a tendency to be cheap (not a bad thing). I also like tuna steaks, but I think they should be cooked medium rare or they will dry out but the wife is not up for anything rare other than beef.

Most times they (wife and family) cook fish it is fried whole and ends up a black crunchy mess with way too many bones to be able to enjoy in my opinion.

Try Mamsa - good taste, good texture not too many bones. We cook the whole fish on the bbq - 1 - 2 kg.

We will try Mamsa. My favourite here has been Lapu Lapu (grouper) followed by Dorado.

Kitong (Rabbit Fish) is one of my favorites. No small (or fragile) bones and has a meaty texture.
