The local forecast was off...no rain in Tugas; quite the tease as I see rain in the mountains and the mother in law says they have had some decent downpours this past week in the village. It will get cloudy and even today lightning in all directions tonight but not a drop of rain here. Shawn
i'm 400m above bacong and only recorded 7.4'' so far this year. the public water lines are drying up or getting murky, people are carrying water from wherever they can get it. we're ok with bottled water for drinking, stored rain water for washing and we're also packing water for the garden.
Yesterday there was some big showers over bayawan and central negros but as usual nothing here again, we did have a prolonged heavy shower for around 1hr early on thus morn which was nice. This snippet was taken off of the pagasa website! Recent analyses show persistent development of convective clouds over the West Philippine Sea which will be more prevalent and large scale in coming days. It will contribute significantly to the seasonal rain over most areas in the western part of the country. In consideration of climate model outputs, PAGASA foresees the imminent onset of the rainy season in early June. However, full development of the southwest monsoon season is expected to commence by mid-June associated with moderate to heavy rains. PAGASA will continue to monitor the development of southwest monsoon and updates will be issued as appropriate. Meanwhile, the National and Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils are advised to take appropriate action and follow the next advisories to be issued by PAGASA. I hope they are right!
Turns the talcum powder like dust to a nasty muck...another memory I will not miss. Shawn [DOUBLEPOST=1432446080,1432445784][/DOUBLEPOST] I hope they are right as well, I know my in laws are stressing a bit about how they are going to feed all their animals as everything is drying up and the closest river has been dry for 2 months now (farther to go to the bigger one). For me all my plants short of 5 grape tomato plants died in my garden so I am going to wait to replant seeds until it starts raining consistently again. Plus it is kind of sad to see so much brown when I was getting used to all the greenery. Shawn
We met a couple guys that work for the water department in Tanjay the other week and they said there was a lot of concern about the water lines and a project to improve things is getting more traction. We use bottled water for the water dispenser for drinking and cooking as well. I'm really pleased we went with a well instead of city water as the pressure seems to be worse according to our neighbors. I'll never regret going with the well, I do have a good idea every once in awhile. Shawn
