I am not sure if this weather has anything to do with it but all 3 of my dogs are picking up Ticks at an alarming rate., There are not due for another dose of anti Tic medication for another month, Is anyone else having the same problem? Bathing them only keeps the blighters away for a while. JP
Yes lots of ticks around at the moment,I ring the city vet and he comes and does john for free with **********, nice guy good service 100 peso donation
We used to inject the dogs ones a month with **********. Nowadays we buy it in powder form in little 2 gram sachets in any agri vet shop. This powder we mix in their food what's less hassle and stress than an injection. One sachet is good for one month for the 45 kg doberman. One other sachet for the three small dogs. And Jack. no ticks but our grass is all dried up and dead and so are the ticks I suppose?
We were getting them pretty bad on the dogs the other month but used the topical solution that goes between the shoulder blades; I was worried about using it as there were a lot of warnings when I searched it but it was so bad we could not keep up. So far so good. I thought ticks were picked up in tall grass (like back home) but that was not the case for us. Shawn
Hi jack! Yes...we are seeing the same problem with ticks! Our one "House dog", who is mostly inside the house (Duh), is constantly getting them every time she goes outside. The other 3 dogs, who stay outside, do show a slight increase in ticks...but the house dog gets a whole bunch in just 2 - 3 hours outside each day. BTW..as I'm sure you know, but Woof-Woof also carries a less expensive Flea / Tick medicine...about 1/2 the price of Advantage or Frontline..it's made in Thailand. Still the same 30 day wait time between each dose of Tick med, though. Hope this helps.
Gave them an early dose and they are very relieved Just Hope for a Bit of Rain and I am sure things will get back to normal, well if things can ever be normal here. JP
Very good and works well, But............ My 8 month old Puppy ( Ha well she is the tallest now) keeps taking the other two's off [ Usually biting through them] and at 300+ a go cost restrictive. Thanks for your Input JP
Gave all 3 a dose of "Frontline" a couple of days ago, Worked Pretty Quick, spent some time this Morning Sweeping and clearing the discarded Tics. Seems that they are Picking them up from the soil that they have scratched up to stay Cool, Helper is busy now each day with sprinkling some disinfected Water around the garden to see if this will help. JP
On wikiHOW you can use virgin coconut oil rubbed into your dog's skin and kills the fleas in 5 min. cover the dog with a sweater. good success and good for their skin. Watsons sells the oil near the pharmacy area.
