You are right. A lot that I have met seem to want to fabricate a life story that seems unbelievable, especially after they had a few. I just stay at home mostly because of this and when I go out it is with my wife and/or family to the mall, beach, swimming pool, sight seeing etc. just like in my home country, family comes first and mingling with other men is really not so important.

Agree with you in the main but there will come a time when you will welcome the chance to have quiet beer and a Chat with expats that you have chosen carefully to meet, believe me the longer you are here the more this will become apparent.

Yeah Jack, I know where you are coming from. I tried Whynot, don't like. I tried Gie-Gies and I like it there but I don't have transportation so inconvenient. I also tried flip-flops, it is ok with a mixture of everything from liars to very good guys. so, I have been feeling my way around slowly. I will eventually find the one that suits me

Oh well of course it all depends on the time of day you go to YN there are quite a few that meet sometimes on Fridays about Noon time.
I have a mate that comes across every 2 months from Dalguete and we sit for an hour or so Putting the World to rights (as we do) I will let you know next time he is here. Maybe you could pop in for 1 or 2
maybe when you have your feet under the table a little more here, we can get you to come down and have a chat. having said that, there are other places that a small number of people get together. I also believe that making a mate or two on the Forum to begin with will give you a pretty good idea of the sort people you will get on with.
In he Main we are mostly Settled members with Wives and or Long term GF's and have Responsibilities as in Houses etc Unlike some you mention from other Places.
See how it goes and maybe some invites will fall your way.

I'm surprised you lasted that long in carcar, it depresses me just driving through the place!

Hahahahaha yes that is the worst shithole I have ever lived in. Lot of crime. Drugs, murders, lots of stealing and liars like you wouldn't believe. and the people just throw their trash out no matter where they are. I lived there because my wifes family is there and she didn't want to go away from her mother. We came close to separating once because of it. I finally put my foot down and said "We either leave here now or consider me gone" I will never know what would have happened if she had wanted to stay. Now we are very happy and both love it here in Dumaguete.

Yah, the no alcohol part would be pretty impossible but would at least be nice if the place wasn't a bar. have no issue with someone having 1 or 2 but just don't have it in me to be around those who after a few more get so loud and obnoxious. Had enough for that in CDO. Be good for it to be a place that offers a few snack foods that appeal to foreigners a bit more with plenty of room for extras to drop in and grab a seat. Could be nice bringing our gals as well as sometimes they are looking for filipina's they can relate to a bit more being with a foreigner.

However no idea where to setup such a thing and horrible at planning and setting crap up. I'm one of those lazy blokes most the time rather just know there's a friendly non drunk English speaking group and open invitation for extras.

Mia's (near the airport), Gerry's at the Beach, Mike's Beach Resort, La Fiesta and Bambulo are a few places that come to mind. Most of those focus mainly on food but have a bar as well. It could also be something that alternates between parks like Forrest Camp, Pulangbato Falls, Tajero (BYOB). Just some ideas. I'd be interested in doing something like that when I get back in August.
