Tan, who failed to pay his hotel bills in Dumaguete City, received a total of eight years in prison for his wrong-doings. Tan’s entire bill consisted of 19,506 pesos which he owed to Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City. Tan visited the hotel in August of 2013, the bill included accommodations, food and other services that he availed during his stay. The Singapore national has been detained in jail and is now ordered to transfer to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. Tan originally claimed he was robbed of his belongings in Quezon Park in Dumaguete City – during trial, prosecutors presented evidence from Tan’s Facebook page where he boasted about his criminal activities in La Trinidad and Iloilo City - the ballsy foreigner even posted “Catch Me If You Can.” Source – Phil Star

He got hit with estafa (swindling) which I assume is based on the fraud component. I linked an article which seems to suggest that he is getting 4 - 8 years. I hope they went off more than Facebook posts. Digital fingerprints aren't always as they appear. I also hope someone looked into his mental health condition. Perhaps a better outcome might have been to get Singapore to pay for the damages and a plane ticket back home to get this guy some help. And don't steal cars!! Luzon - The Philippine Nationl Police (PNP) has shot in the Sunday night, in a shootout in Marilao, Bulacan, five of car theft suspect. Authorities say they were informed that the car thieves with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and rode a motorcycle in Marilao around. The suspects were able to avoid a roadblock in Marilao, but fell shortly after midnight in another nearby roadblock and opened an exchange of fire on the police. In the shooting of four car thieves were shot, the fifth died on the way to the hospital. Police found four pistols, one of them with silencers, a grenade and two handcuffs in the car thieves.
