    Hi,

My American husband has 13A visa right now and it is soon to expire. We are planning to change it to permanent visa but I want to know about it more. Honestly, we are not in good terms but I am willing to apply for his permanent visa for my kids sake. If we changed it to the permanent visa, do we still need to renew it annually? And do I have to be present in the immigration every year to do it or he can just do it alone? If yes, how much will it cost? I'm really hoping we don't need to renew it together because of the word "permanent". I really don't want to see him anymore. I'm just doing this for my kids so they will still see their Dad.

Any reply will be much appreciated. Tried calling the BI hotline, noone is answering.

Hi , yes you both have to be present to show that you are still together, but after saying this, my friend and his wife parted before the year was up, she went one way "with his money" and he went the other, but when he went to the office he found a way around it, but very expensive 35,000 .So it would be best if you were there for the renewal .

A Permanent Quota Visa and a Philippines Retirement Visa are expensive to obtain. You can access the internet for requirements for both. For example, you have to deposit a certain amount of money in a Philippines bank and pay an up front fee. For my quota visa, I have to renew annually and obtain a new card after five years. Depending on your financial status, an alternative may be to come back once a year to renew the 13A visa, if in fact he has to go back to the US. Hope you find a workable solution.

If my wife and daughter are United States Citizens but born in the Philippines, my daughter got her Birth Abroad and U.S. Passport after obtaining a Philippines Passport first. I am a born and raised U.S.Citizen that lived in the Philippines for over 4 years where I met, married and produced a child there with my beautiful Pinay wife before moving back to the United States some 5 years ago with my wife and daughter. Now we are moving back to the Philippines for good (we think) and was wondering who out of us are going to have to pay for Visa Extensions? Just me or all 3 of us and how much and how often if we obtain a 13 A Visa and does the Dumaguete Office do this or do we have to go to Cebu and also how soon can I apply for this 13 A Visa? Same time as the CR1 Card or after? Thank You for any help and sorry if I confused anyone by asking to much too quick.

It's OK if you don't ask you can't be answered.
So if your daughter and Wife Enter the PI on their Philippine Passports they are Nationals Yes? So you Enter with your wife and get a BB stamp for 1 year.
neither of them really do not need to extend and as they are here as Filipinos.
After 6 months here you need to apply your 13a in Cebu you need to show you have been here 6 months continual before you can apply.

But, why wait for this, you can Obtain a 13 a now at a Filipino Embassy in the US. and it would be Permanent. No provisional year.

Hope this has helped a little.

Both my wife and 7 year old daughter's Filipino passports are expired and they are both US Citizens with US Passports now. They still have their Filipino Passports and I don't think they can be renewed. Can they? We are in Boston and the Embassy is in New York City. Can you explain the benefit of obtaining the 13 A now as too waiting? Cost or headaches? NYC is mass confusion and expensive to get to and from. Thanks for any and all help as we need it to be prepared for this life changing move back to my wife's and daughters homeland and a country we feel at home with and love.

Well as to the Philippine Passports yes they can be renewed but this is an Embassy thing and as you have stated it sounds like it is not an Option.
So if you are all Entering on US Passports you are all going to have to Extend. The reason many get the 13 a in there own Country is because it is less hassle and it is Permanent ( and Cheaper)
Now to Qualify for 13a Your Wife is going to have to renew her Passport as this is a Requirement to support her letter of Petition on your behalf, Either there in the States or here so which ever way you do it, she must have a valid Passport to substantiate her Nationality.

OK, I am and I guess more later are here to answer but just at this time it sounds just a little complicated but we can get round that as you ask Questions.

I will just say that it is not a particularly hard thing to Obtain (13 a) if and I say If all the requirements are in order so we are going to have to work on getting those things sorted. 2 for now she will need. as well as the passport.
    1. NSO Copy of her Birth certificate.
    2. NSO marriage contract.
