I actually kind of respect/admire the stance of the PI government in not allowing foreigners to own the "Land". It scares me that last year 6% of all U.S. Real estate sales and 30% of all California real estate transactions were made by the Chinese. Now add in all the other countries that are allowed to purchase U.S Land and it makes me a tad nervous about who the major land owners are. Regarding marrying a Filipina owning the land and us owning the home....that's a gamble we all take in marriage....in the PI AND in the U.S. , if we divorce, she gets the house LOL

The reason the wages are so low is because they are normal and acceptable in the Philippines. Businesses outsource to the Philippines to take advantage of the lower labor costs. If the labor costs were not cheaper then they would not be moving jobs overseas to begin with. If there were more competition for workers, or better (higher) minimum wage laws in the Philippines then it may drive up the wages paid. As long as the labor costs threshold is lower than they are in their home countries then companies will continue to outsource.

You bring up an interesting point of view which I have never before considered.

Marcos was not so bad!. Dont believe the spin. The masses of Gold here left by the Japanese during WW2 [ commonly called "yamashitas treasure " ] was allocated to the entire planet as a global debt facility by Marcos himself. He was independantly wealthy anyway - paid in Gold in the 50s for legal work he did between the Vatican and The Philippines - for gold loaned to The Vatican during the 1920s - The World Bank are in the process of a global financial reset using this very Gold bullion. There is much much more Gold than we are led to believe. The world banks lawyer - whistleblower Karen Hudes -who is the legal rep for the Global Debt facility tweets daily on behind the scenes negotiations on this complex story - https://twitter.com/KarenHudes?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author

There are two sides to this,if foreigners cannot own any land or business here nothing will move forward as no big business will invest here if they cannot own it.
They could think to keep a good portion of the money made here in the pi and this could be another way to try and get more investors here and for private owners it could be something like any private owner can own 1500sqm of land and no relatives can build on adjoining land so at least then there would be more opertunity and incentive to come here and invest.

" nothing will move forward as no big business will invest here if they cannot own it." lol.. What makes you think societies "move forward" if Big Business "invests"? [ Like the United Fruit Company "invested in South America during the 50s and 60s" ] The Philippines is doing fine by global standards. Foreigners whine about the place all the time [ myself included ] but the truth is if this country allowed foreign ownership - it would commence a stream of more complex social problems. Sure infrastructure could be better but it could be ALOT worse. The thing is foreigners come here anyway and "invest" without buying land -
You mention "moving forward" - Moving forward to where ? - perhaps you want the Philippines to be more like the home country you abandoned?

I never abandoned my country for one and no I wouldn't want it like the country I left either!
It would be nice to have a bit more efficiency in certain government offices, accountability from the locals though amongst a few other things.
