BTW: are there any ISP providers that don't have a download limit?

I think globe do still do unlimited bandwidth but it's just extortion, that's on adsl. Check their website for lte and 4g!
We had the guys here last week also to try sort a few probs sorted out. I also asked them about the new fiber optic cable they laid to dauin along the highway which I thought was adsl,it's not,it's lte and over subscribed already. The internet is a real mess here at the moment and getting worse all the time, something drastic needs to be done ASAP else it will just collapse.

PLDT has unlimited plans. I'm going to go check on that tomorrow. Globe has resorted to basically harassing me now that I am fed up with the nonsense and I told them to close the account. I have 3 different numbers calling me every 10 minutes or so about the account trying to get me to "monitor the connection for 24 hours" and that they will "reset the service tonight" (I believe one is the repair guy, one is Dumaguete Globe and the other is Manila Globe). I know that "resetting the service" is just key for resetting the data limit (which lasted me less than 3 weeks) so I told them if they don't give me unlimited data limits the account WILL be canceled and payments WILL stop. They ignore that and ask me to monitor the service for 24 hours again. Their last call they refused to speak English to me. I'm just ignoring their f'n calls now. p*ss on Globe, I'm changing my SIM card out tomorrow to get rid of their service on my phone as well....since they like to spam me with nonsense text messages 5 or more times a day. At this point even if they called tomorrow and said I would get unlimited data I'd tell them to p*ss off.

Ask them if there is adsl available up there,I doubt it but worth a try as it beats that wireless crap any day.
As of now with our old plan we still get unlimited to 15gig a day,I reckon we use around 6-7gig a day at present as all tenants seem to stay in a lot.
We also have a landline which we use on ocassions which is free to globe and tm landlines but if the Mrs is out of load she uses it but why we have never been charged I don't know.

So there are absolutely no options for Internet plans that don't have data limits where I live. Pldt has shitty data limits for wireless but they are on a daily basis and throttle you down to 256kbs when you go over that daily limit. 3mbs (1gb a day data limit) for 999+300 for equipment rental. Pretty shitty but that's the best I can get at a reasonable cost until cable is ran to Valencia. They are coming out tomorrow to check the site for install.

Hopefully those aren't daily limits AND monthly limits. I guess I will find out.

This is the System I have but I don't understand the 300 equipment Rental Unless that is for the Ulteraplan Wireless and Fixed Unit Combination modem, we get ours Free as we Upgraded the System earlier. The 3 mb is for 1 GB only and reduces to 1 mb After 1 GB use. this is daily and resets at 4 am ( As they Told us.)
It is good here in Junob till about 10am then depending on the School attendances it goes Crap, as I have said before I trust none of them.
As I write this I am getting .65mbs.
the best since lunch has been .87 mbs.

I'm not sure about the equipment rental either. I think it is a 36 month lock-in so that would come to 10,800 for the equipment.....I doubt they pay that much for it. I thought it was a bit excessive for the equipment to be 30% of the price of the internet and I also thought it was a bit dishonest to post one price, 999, to only tell you 300 more once you are in their office signing up for the service. I'm wondering that since I have my own wifi router if they could just provide the modem (and I prefer to use my WiFi router over theirs since their modem/router settings menu is always locked with a password they won't give me). If they don't let me do that then I guess a work around would be to let them use my laptop to set everything up and install a key logger to get their password. lol

They also couldn't even tell me what the upload speeds were and it looked like they had never been asked the question before from the confused look they gave each other when I asked. They said they could only "guarantee the download speed", which I'm sure won't be "guaranteed" at 3Mbps like they told me.....and they did tell me three times that 3Mbps was the average (and guaranteed) download speed. :meh: I'm sure the small print in the contract disagrees with them.

You can find most of the passwords on the internet if you do a search, took me around 10 mins to find globes log in details. I'm sure pldt would be the same.
The routers they use are total garbage also,Chinese crap, far better to use your own.

Yeah. The one with Globe had to be constantly reset. Hopefully there is an option for them to just provide the modem minus the WiFi router. Probably not though......that'd make sense.

Major US ISPs Will Have to Prove their Speed Claims
    Added: Thursday, October 29th, 2015

A number of the largest American broadband providers were ordered to submit evidence that their “fast lanes” and premium services are quicker than ordinary access to the Internet. A few days ago, Time Warner Cable, Verizon and Cablevision received a letter from the office of New York’s Attorney General where concerns were raised that the users might not be getting the speeds advertised. The detailed information was requested from the ISPs by 8 November. The Internet companies were warned that records could be subpoenaed and legal action taken to stop any deceptive business practices.

Apparently, the office had two concerns: the first one was about the claim that speeds in the so-called “last mile” may deviate from the speeds advertised to render the advertising deceptive. Another concern was about the quality of connections between those ISPs and such websites as Yahoo or Netflix, because there had been many consumer complaints.

As a result, the Attorney General had to send out letters to major Internet service providers in the country and ask them to validate claims their subscribers were getting the access speeds promised, making a particular emphasis on premium services. According to media reports, the Attorney General’s office is seeking each ISP’s total broadband customers since 2011, grouped by service levels. The office also requires all disclosures to actual or potential customers about Internet speeds for the last two years; substantiation for specific speed claims; related user complaints; and copies of interconnection agreements.

According to the information received from the office, after the Attorney General will have reviewed all the responses and documents submitted, the ISPs’ officials would be invited in to discuss their broadband marketing practices and services.

In response, Cablevision has expressed its readiness to provide all the requested information to the Attorney General. The ISP also claimed that its Optimum Online service “consistently surpassed advertised broadband speeds, including in FCC and internal tests”. As for Time Warner Cable, the company said it was also looking forward to resolving the matter, while being confident that its subscribers were provided the speeds and services promised to them. Finally, Verizon joined the latter statement and reiterated that it was confident in the robust and reliable speeds delivered to its customers.
