Can anyone offer advice on the following. The lightening storm this afternoon caused some damage including the 2-story high ceiling lights no longer working. Turned the breakers off and on but still not working. Any suggestions?
My wifi also got fried, 2nd time in a couple of months.

Pat, Sorry to hear that it got you again, whilst I have no answers to your Problem on the burnt out equipment, I can only say what I said before and in fact I thought you would have had it done.
That is to investigate the possible of the introduction of a Lightning, Ground Conductor to your Roof, If you Remember we spoke about this Before, I have one on my 7 Metre High Electricity Supply Pole and another on a 16/18 metre Coconut Tree right next to the House. In addition we have lightning conductors in the Roof for the Equipment.
    Just a thought mate.

I am not an electrician Pat, but if your home took a direct hit the result could be the breaker got fried internally and the breaker is nfg now. If you do not have a competent guy to come check I suggest you stop by Polaris Equip. and have them send an electrician out to have a look..

I'd check the lamps first, ballast/starter if florescent fixtures. If you want any info on LPS send me a PM and I can break down the basics.

The best thing is to make sure your house is truly grounded and have lightning rods shunted directly to ground with less than 10 foot of cable. Any reputable electrician should know how to do. Just got here to Duma so don't know any locals but have a friend that was an electrician in USA. Can ask him for advice and let you know.

Also these articles may help explain and visualize what I am trying to say better than I can: Lightning Protectors Tutorial | Prevent Network Damage | L-com.com
and here: DSL Surge Protector - SP070A - Shop now - Black Box

Hope this helps a little bit anyways

Get a bunch of chicken wire and build a Faraday Cage around your house. Problem solved.

your house must be a lightening magnet pat,I remember seeing the damage to the coconut tree on your boundary. I wouldn't want to have been that close,as mentioned before we go around and unplug everything before it gets too close.
