#BREAKING: Egypt has confirmed that a Russian passenger plane has crashed in central Sinai. Earlier, aviation and security sources said Egyptian air traffic control had lost contact with the civilian airliner carrying 224 people shortly after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, bound for Russia.
A Russian plane carrying more than 200 passengers from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh is believed to have crashed in central Sinai. A statement from the prime minister’s office said Sherif Ismail had formed a cabinet-level crisis committee to deal with the crash. The new announcement follows conflicting reports from Egyptian officials that the plane had made contact in Turkish airspace and was safe. It is understood to be a passenger plane from the Russian airline Kogalymavia, also known as Metrojet. It was destined for St Petersburg, with 217 passengers and seven crew onboard. The Russian plane that crashed in Egypt at the weekend "may well have been brought down by an explosive device", Downing Street has said. All flights between the UK and Sharm el-Sheikh have been suspended on Wednesday evening as UK experts assess security at the Egyptian airport. Number 10 said flights had been delayed as a "precautionary measure" after "more information has come to light". Russian Airbus 321 crashed on Saturday, killing all 224 people on board. "We would underline that this is a precautionary step and we are working closely with the airlines on this approach," a Number 10 spokesman said. Aviation experts have travelled to Egypt assess security arrangements at the Egyptian airport. Their findings were considered in a one-hour meeting of the government's Cobra emergency committee, chaired by Prime Minister David Cameron. A further government statement is expected later tonight. The Irish Aviation Authority said it has directed Irish airlines not to fly to or from the area until further notice.Sinai plane crash: Bomb fears prompt Sharm flights suspension - BBC News
Here in the States, all news agencies are reporting a US satellite picked up a "heat flash" at the time and in the vicinity of this downed Russian aircraft. Pentagon sources are now publicly saying they "highly suspect" it is an ISIS or an ISIS affiliate bombing event from inside the aircraft - perhaps an inside job by ground crew loading the plane with an explosive device(s) prior to departure. UK and Ireland have grounded all flights to this Egyptian airport flight destination. Tourism to Egypt is down - been down for a year and not getting any better. This is a definite game changer.... and more complicated than ever. nwlivewire
If you look closely at the rear tail place section the tear in the outer skin is sticking outwards and I'm sure it would not look like this if there was a general failure of the structure. Like the origional report mentioned a retaliation for the Russians getting involved in the Syria thing. I'm sure the governments already know if there was a bomb onboard as it would be on both flight recorders as both situated in the tail section of the aircraft.
Not very smart to retaliate like that, they are dealing with Stalin....err I mean Putin, not Obama. I think ISIS just ensured Russia's continued activity in the region.
Putin will not want to have egg on his face over this - he has a big ego. I suspect he will amp up his military aggression in the region. This bombing (if this be the case) will be like the rock thrown at the hornets nest. Putin will become the bee in their bonnet. nwlivewire
Hmmm yes and just could have the effect of the Pebble in the pool with the ripples getting larger and Spreading. But then that is the way they work EH? Jack
Now that I think about it maybe these ISIS guys aren't all that stupid and are actually banking on it? I'm sure bombing the crap out of where they are only throws the region into more turmoil and lowers the standard of living for everyone there.....which will turn the region into an even bigger terrorist breeding ground. Also, the more collateral damage the better it is for ISIS. Much easier to recruit people who have had a family member killed by a foreign force.
