hello from Canada- Iam retired and planning to check Philippines for long term stay starting mid dec. planning on searching around Dumaguete for place to rent . I like snorkeling and fishing so hope to find place not to far from snorkeling area . Iam pretty excited about missing the cold winter in Canada.
Thanks for the introduction. If you are looking for a place close to snorkeling and fishing you might want to look for places in Bacong or Dauin (10 and 30 minute drives from the center of Dumaguete). Not much of that stuff in Dumaguete.
Dauin was the first place I ever dived in the Philippines (Apo Island). I knew then I would some day retire to the Philippines.
thanks for the info , I have being check the net an other forums for a long time trying to find snorkeling 10-30 mins. from place to live most forums direct you to a resort which I am not interested in for long term. I have hear about Dauin an Siquijor and so I need to check them out. I know nothing about Bacong but will sure check it out also.
wow! Crystalhead that video is my dream. I am a senior an only snorkel so I don't think I will see the colors an corals like your video. what camera was used to shoot that video? also what depth do you need to be to see coral like that an sea snakes? I don't think I will be able to aford scuba gear but maybe someday I will learn especially after seeing some of your utube videos. again fantastic
I had someone contact me on the DI Facebook page about this thread (I think) saying he could volunteer some free time showing people to spear fish in January. If anyone is interested in that they can send me a PM and I will forward the guys name on to them. Note: I don't know the person myself so you would have to message him and figure out if it is something you would be comfortable doing. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk.
Sorry, not my youtube. Just a very accurate portrayal of what I experienced diving there! It does not cost much at all and you may need some quick lessons at a dive shop. When I dove Apo Island, the decent was no more than 60 to 80 feet to see all there is to see. Set off from a resort I stayed at called (El Dorado)
