Not sure how accurate this app is but it seems to reflect where I get coverage at. Might help with picking out the right SIM card (or you could just buy both). Globe Coverage: Smart Coverage: Btw, the app is called "Open Signal".
Very helpful and informative for Dumaguete coverage. Much appreciated. Those got saved immediately for future reference.
If you have an Android you can download the Open Signal app. It gives you quite a bit of data on your connections (wifi and mobile), data and SMS/calls.
Thanks I will check it out. The Ofcom Wi-Fi Checker app from another thread won't work on my old Huawei 'semi-smart' phone (old G610). I'll give this one a try. Hope the new Google 5x becomes avail soon locally at a reasonable price. Time for an upgrade.
The Nexus 5x (produced by LG)? We can only dream. I'm currently using the older Nexus 5 (also produced by LG). Love the Nexus devices but I think the new Nexus 6 is just to big. This app is mainly for finding different cellular signals (LTE, 3G, 2G), providers and their towers. It has a wifi function but I haven't really messed with that side of the app much. I think that it will record wifi locations on the map feature but it won't analyze those signals. I posted a couple other wifi analyzer apps in DavyL200's wifi thread because the app he posted wasn't compatible with any of my phones. (which is probably why you couldn't find it in the app store either)
Agreed plus it has that weird bulge for the camera on the back. I am much more interested in stock android with the 5x.
I think they added that bulge on the 5x too....it is an improvement over the 5 though. Camera takes more damage on the N5 because it sticks out from the phone and has nothing to protect the lense. Using a case is the only way to stop from scratching it, which I don't personally like to use.
I ordered the Nexus 5x yesterday from B and H. I had it shipped to Johnny Air and they should forward it on to Cebu from there for me to pick up. I find the phone available in Hong Kong as well but the price was ridiculous before shipping. Not sure on the price from Johnny Air but I used them before to ship a motorcycle muffler from the US and it only took about a week to get to Bacolod and cost a couple thousand pesos.
I just did a quick google search and found both B and H at:|http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Operating+System_Android&ci=24039&N=3955685938+3955686100 and Johnny Air at: How to Shop Online - Johnnyair Thanks Much, I had not heard of or used either before.
