New tourism office to open in Dumaguete !

Link gets a "database" error when I go to it.....but wouldn't the new tourism office mean that the old one would be closed and the same staff would just transfer over to the new building? Probably won't see much change except for some new paint.

 

The fate of the newly minted One Negros Island Region numerically known as Region 18 hangs in the balance in view of the forthcoming elections, as surveys indicate the possible uncertainty of administration candidates.

Even advocates of the One Negros Region admit that until the May 2016 elections are concluded there is no guarantee that whoever becomes the next President will not revoke the Executive Order creating Region 18 issued by President Benigno Aquino III, who is stepping down on June 30, 2015.

It is for this reason that the first ever meeting of the Regional Development Council, Friday, resembled more like a “meet and greet” event among the members to include all the two governor Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental, 19 city mayors, Presidents of the Leagues of Municipalities, 10 Congressmen and regional directors of national agencies many of whom are not yet even named.

As promised eyed as RDC Chair is Governor Roel Degamo. However, the RDC will be talking more on proposed projects and funds for Calendar Year 2017, conveniently skipping Fiscal Year 2016 despite assurances by main proponent LP Presidential bet Mar Roxas, that funds have been appropriated for the 2016 transition period.
