Any Information on this Plans for SM and Gaisano in Dumaguete?....just found it on Wikimapia Wikimapia - Let's describe the whole world! SM Lot Area is just in front of Northville Subdivision, Tubtubon, Sibulan, left side on the Plan.....across Hyundai Gaisano Lot Area, beside DECA Homes, Cangmating, Sibulan, right side of the Plan....
Is it just me or does the map area for 'SM Dumaguete' look to be where there are existing houses already in Northville subdivision or next to it where the development is supposed to be going???(or is that just planned part of the housing sub-development??} Plus I wonder how much pull Robinson's has in trying to block SM from coming into Duma? Just asking?
Can't answer for the Robinson's angle but there be something in it. These Plans are a couple of years old now and Housing has been built so maybe the land has been resold. We have discussed SM many times here and I tend to think we are just as much in the dark as you. It was Mooted some time ago about one of the Smaller SM owned Malls going up but nothing Concrete has been seen yet.
OK thanks JP, I am probably not alone in wishing more options were available for shopping and IMPO competition is good for the buyer with more options, better availability and prices etc...
What about City Mall in Daro....construction started already....I think SM is one of the Owner, isn't it?
I believe it is, this I also believe, is on the original land SM Purchased or attempted to to Purchase.
As the bamboo telegraph has it robinsons blocked sm coming here a few years back by paying off certain officials, the last I heard was ang Tay golf course which border of sibulan was a proposed site for sm but as of yet nowt has happened, let's hope there is more competition here soon to drive the prices down a bit.
Out of topic: is it true Philippines have higher number of malls per area as compared to other countries? Say US?
I did some research months ago and IIRC City Mall is a joint effort between Dragon Industries (?) and SM or Ayala. City Malls seemed to have two styles; one was like a big Unitop, the other was filled with individual spaces w/ roll up doors that sell for over P1M for the 16 year lease + a monthly lease payment. Good luck getting vendors here to shell out over a million peso eh?
