    Well Guys,

I bought a great little Pajero a while ago, which runs very effective in all different terrain / road conditions.

Except for the aircon, which would stop blowing cold air at 25degrees :-). And then not restart till 35degrees.

I was told it is thermostat which controls the aircon - solution - just make it manual.

Car then went to the general family "mechanic", who kept it for 3 days.
Parts were paid for in advance and then came the labour charge of 6500php. Why that figure - well i did 4 different things to the car and I charge 2000php for each individual task - and I gave you a discount.

The aircon solution - didn't do it - the aircon place down the road was too busy.
So end result - NEVER NEVER NEVER anybody related EVER EVER EVER again.

We then waited till we moved to Cadawinona and found a local mechanic everything shop.
Very professional looking, safety barriers, proper tools, mature mechanic, etc etc.

So the aircon changed to manual (a valve replacement somewhere), regas, general service. Aircon works.

BUT now flat battery EVERY morning and at EVERY stop. Solution don't turn of motor in city.

BUT on the way home car stops at Hypermart - battery completely drained. Why - aircon sucking out all the power at low speeds.

    Back to the shop.

Replace regulator. (2 weeks wait - has to come from Cebu).

    Flat Battery again.

Replace Alternator. (2 weeks wait - has to come from Cebu).

Take car home - next day no aircon again. Back to replace valve again.

    Finally everything works. :finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger:.

Drive wife to job applications, shopping at Robinsons, bank, etc etc. I staid in the car with aircon on.

No interior lights are dimming, aircon works, stereo works, etc etc.

Get home, turn off car, everything is fine.

Turn on ignition this morning - FLAT BATTERY :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:.

We have come full circle - aircon is draining the battery at low speed / idle. Back to no aircon.

I have spend over 50k on this 1 specific issue and I still got the issue :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:.

So does anybody know of any capable auto-electrician they would recommend ??

Someone who has actually worked on your car and fixed the issue / problem ??

I had an '97 Mitsubishi Montero with aircon problems. Took it to Ramar one block east of old McDonalds. Fixed all the problems.

Well at least you are getting some exercise and burning some extra calories when you have to get out and push and/or find someone with some jumper cables.

(I don't know any mechanics. I remember that conversation we had about keeping the forum positive. Just trying to do my part.)

I would go to RTC, map provided. They are aircon specialists and talk to them first before spending any more money. It may be that the aircon / battery problems are completely unrelated. Would also suggest getting your battery checked at AVM across from Robinsons.

    Google Maps RTC

This might sound too obvious, but check the battery terminals.

I didn't see "Solved" next to this one so thought I would add my Piso. Sounds like someone hot wired the aircon clutch to get around the defective thermostat. It is an electromagnet and a power hog. It should never be engaged when the engine isn't running so the alternator can power it as it would drain the battery fairly fast.
