I sat down at a table last night there, ordered one beer ,got my beer and the girl gave me a menu,I looked at my watch, after one hour she still never came back,I asked another person there for a manager and was told there is no manager,.its always horrible service, avoid this place all costs.,the frustration isn't worth it,and the foods not either

Its too bad this happens to you. On the flip-side, I have patronized Coco Amigos about 2 dozen times in the past 2 months and only once had poor service. That was during the Fiesta when they were swamped. Some of the menu items are amazingly good value. The banana split for 85 pesos is one of the best in Dumaguete. The roast beef dinner is kept frozen and reheated when someone orders it but where else in Dumaguete can you get a roast beef dinner for under 200 pesos? Anyway, I concede they are not perfect to tell people they are not worth visiting is misleading at best.

I was in there a week or so ago and had a (cold) beer and a banana split. They didn't have the flavor ice cream i wanted but my backup choice turned out to be pretty good. Found the service a bit slow and had to wave them over to get the bill.....but so goes life in the Philippines. I've learned to live with it and it's not exactly like I'm in a big hurry to get anything done here anyway.

I've tried a few of their "Mexican" food items in the past and wasn't very impressed. Basically just Texmex with little flavor or with a Filipino "twist" (aka sugar). I'll certainly return to try some other items on the menu though. (Any recommendations?)

We go there fairly regularly, Friday or Saturday nights when there is usually a good live band. The service is not very good, so sometimes you have to get up and wave at them, but we find the food is pretty reasonable. I agree that the manager (if there is one) needs to be fired and someone who takes an interest appointed. The rest of the staff take their cue from the manager (apart from one guy who is actually pretty good at looking after regular customers), so you really need to start from the top and work down.

The key points. Generally you just need to learn to deal with frustration. But if the food isn't worth it, then you put up with less.

There are restaurants here which have such bad service during certain times of the day that I'll order food straight from the cooks and drinks straight from the bar. Then when I pay, I get up and search for the waitress. But I like the food at these places so much that I'm willing to do that.

I like what Wrye83 said about having things to do. I plan plenty of time to kick back and enjoy the meal and the venue if I know that service is bad. If I'm really in a hurry, then I plan accordingly.

I don't think complaining will work. If the food is great, then just go with it. If the service is awesome, then vote with your pesos. Eventually the owners of these other restaurants will see what all the fuss is about and might try to copy the better restaurants. Possibly customer service might be one of the things which gets copied.

I agree, I got decent service but IMO only because my SO called out for assistance. The food was OK only IMO at least the Texmex stuff I got because the SO doesnt like the food so only I ate. In the future I will either go to Taco Tayo or up to Valencia for my Mexican food fix as IMO both were better food. Especially in Valencia at (forgot name). Sorry! Maybe it was Pecos Petes???

Opinions are like eyes and a#@holes, (we all have 1 or 2). I quit going there after several less than acceptable experiences over the years. I expect good service from a 4ner owned establishment. Service, cleanliness and quality of food are paramount too getting hold of my entertainment money. The staff have been there for years and most days (busy or not) one has to stand, wave or go to the inside for their attention at which point they seem disinterested in whether or not you are enjoying the place.
With proper management, a staff who puts in an effort for their pay (makes for good tips) this place could be the most successful venue on the blvd. With so few places left on the bvld to spend a few hours I think it's a shame this real estate is wasted in it's current use...

Whilst we are all entitled to our Opinion, and I have had good and bad times there, it has to be said, the Owner/s must be making Money as they are Still open and Doing Business. So take it as it is

I am sure Jack they are making money there based on how long they have been there. My point was it could be such a great place (a Dumaguete "must do") instead of a take it or leave it place. There are too few places to go at night here and have an enjoyable, safe environment. Three or four changes and it would be the star attraction at night on the blvd. JMHO
