Your welcome, If you can plug a popcorn popper into the wall and you can hear, you have what it takes to start roasting coffee. It's not hard and its a great hobby.

I'm not sure what coffee is around duma but after reading about coffee in the Philippines I would think it shouldn't be too hard to find. In my limited time there I was taking a trip from San Carlos City To Bacolod there were several places on the side of the road in the mountains where people had coffee beans drying in the sun. I added a few links about coffee in the Philippines to my coffee post, check it out, do some reading and I'm sure you can find green beans close by. You could perhaps simply visit some of the local coffee shops and ask if they would sell you some green coffee beans or at least point you to the source...

When I was down there most people seemed to drink 3 in 1 instant coffee. The family knew I didn't like instant coffee so they would brew me a cup. They achieved this by putting some ground coffee in a white cotton material that looked like it was cut out of a pair of underwear, then pouring hot water over it into a cup. I just kept my fingers crossed and assumed the brown stain in the cotton was a coffee stain. (haha) It wasn't great but it was drinkable and still better than instant...

    Brian:

Could you please link your thread on this website about how to roast-your-own coffee in less than 10 minutes to this thread?

It's soooo easy, cost effective, and soooo tasty, that "even a caveman/woman can do it".

    Thanks!

They do that in several of the expat restaurants around Dumaguete, but they give it a fancy name and call it a "French Press"

Farmers' Coffee 100% Pure Arabica Beans 250 grams Pack of 2 | Lazada PH

You might want to try Lazada and save yourself some legwork, they have a few offerings in the way of roasted Arabica Coffee beans. I have placed over 10 orders with them for various items and have no complaints...

Make sure you grind the beans fine for expresso...

Arabica is for latte sissies who destroy their coffee with cow sweat and sugar. Go with Robusta, twice so much caffeine
