NBI cets another expat

The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI 7) arrested a 69-year-old Japanese tourist who’s accused of trafficking and raping a minor.

Yoshiyo Morino was with a 15-year-old girl and clad in only his boxer shorts when he was arrested inside a room at the Queensland Motel along Gen. Maxilom Avenue at 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

This was the third time Morino brought the minor to a motel after meeting her for the first time last Feb. 23.

The suspect allegedly met the minor in an online dating site.

The girl stated that she was 19 years-old on her profile.

Morino admitted that he had sex with her the second time they met, but that he didn’t force her into it.

 

Yoshi only had sex with her 3 times in 16 days? He will get it daily in the slammer.

I'd like to see the police go after the hotel/pension house as well unless they are the ones who call the police. A foreigner may not be able to take a proper guess at some of these girls ages as some who are 14/15 really look 19-20. I've known two 14 year old's myself who if you met you'd swear they were 19-20. One I chatted with online and she was very tall for her age and had the figure and her profile said 18 yet she was quite honest with being 14 as wasn't looking for a boyfriend just a chatmate (not a dating site). The other lived just down the street from me and I knew her family. She was 14 but you'd have never known by looking at her but when talk to her she seemed very immature (dropped out of school when she was 11 because her family couldn't afford and was working for family members as a helper). Yet Filipino's can more often see these girls and tell right off and there is no reason a hotel/pension house shouldn't be calling the police as someone especially a foreigner is arriving with a minor (but anytime its an older male and a minor girl should raise suspicion even if both are filipino's).

 

I disagree. If the foreigner is a customer then the desk clerk should say "Psst, my friend, do you know she is underage?" At that point, if the foreigner does not clue in, then call the corrupts, er I mean cops.

 

Having been lied to in the past in Makati I can appreciate the situation. The only safe way is to see a valid ID. However, mine had a Philippines postal id which, given the government has requirements to get one, I thought was valid but apparently not. I got out as soon as I could but it wasn't easy. I think the only safe way is to ask to girl to meet her mother and go for her instead. No guy wants what Yoshi is about to experience.

 

Good point, sometimes the foreigner just doesn't know. But I think the hotel/pension house should also be liable if they didn't call the police. Nicer hotels with a rep are tougher to get through as a foreigner with a minor (not like its all that hard thou even then) but some pension houses and hotels you could be a white foreigner walking in with an obvious 15 year old girl and they don't care one bit.

I do also wish though there were charges against the minor if they used a fake ID or it can be proven they lied about their age. Time to stop treating some of these minors like the victim they play.
