    Hi all,
I'm an Australian veterinary nurse with lots of experience working with cats, dogs, and wildlife of all kinds (from birds to bears!)
I will be living in Dumaguete for at least 3 months and am looking for something to keep myself busy and help out if I can. Feel free to write and say hello! If anyone has any or knows of any work with animals (even something as basic as dog walking) or welfare organisations that might benefit from a professional volunteer, please let me know. Looking forward to having the joy of animals in my life again. Thank you!! Lisa

    Hello Lisa
My Yvonne would love to meet up and talk about her cats with you. I don't know bugger all about cats except I used to shoot the pests back on the farm but she is fond of them and would love to have a knowledgeable foreign lady to chat cats with. Just don't give her any advice that's going to cost me a lot of money Hee Hee.
If that is something you would be interested in, how does she contact you.

Hmmmmmm well to me it has to be one or the Other but I guess we all may know what you mean, However I think you may get more response if you were an actual member of DI than people will know who you are, Trust is a big thing here and as a Vet, trust is something you will know about I am sure.
Working on a 9a Tourist Visa for gain or Voluntary is against the law so please be very careful. Don't want to frighten you off but there is more to the Philippines than meets the eye. So Lisa"B" come on down and join the Club  please read the forum rules

    Hi all,

I just made a forum account. It doesn't have full access to messages yet but should very soon. Please send a private message. Also thanks for the advice about the tourist visas , I thought volunteer would be allowed - shame that it isn't. Well, there's no harm in chatting to a lady about cats right. thanks !

To clarify, I did actually mean help out with no pay. It's commonly done in my field as most welfare organisations have no money... And people like myself are after enjoyment and helping animals in need. I did exactly that at a shelter in Thailand for 6 months without a single baht.

Also, apologies for the double post. I did that after I'd made an account. But people can find me from here now.

Well Helping out with No Pay is Voluntary and here in the PI Voluntary means Doing something a Local could have done but for pay, then this is where we all :banghead: hit our heads on brick walls. Rules are there but no one enforces till a problem pops up. Your best bet is to go to the City Veterinaries office, (At City Hall) see what they say, then clarify it at BI ( Immigration)

Anyway, Welcome to the forum, Any problems just ask away, BTW which part of the City are you staying? I ask only that there are Vets on most sides of the City. Not sure there are any Animal sanctuaries though but no doubt, someone will shout up if there are.
