More energy won't hurt anything. I think the big problem is not the companies generating power but more with the family/company that distributes the power.

That may be the secret why so many gas stations are build nowadays but why is the fuel price in negros oriental 2 to 3 peso's higher than say in Cebu, Luzon ,Mindanao??
It might have been better to say that the storage and receiving facility was there rather than that Dumaguete was the "source" of the oil. It still has to be shipped in, the farther out you get, the more expensive. 40km south of Duma you might expect prices 3 peso more per liter. It is the cost of delivery and Gouging. On my way to the US I remember seeing prices for Petrol on Luzon that were very close to the price of diesel in Duma, at unbranded stations. Competition and a larger market forces the price down. I'm not saying there is price fixing in Duma gas stations.....Oh wait! Yes I am. Nevermind.
They keep referring to geothermal as a "renewable" energy source. It is no more renewable than oil or coal. Once man has drained all the heat from the center of the earth just how does one think it can be renewed ? There has to be consequences to cooling the core of the planet. For every action there is a reaction. Geothermal releases heat from the center of the earth at a much faster pace than normal, and where is all that heat going ? Well you guessed it, to the atmosphere. Perhaps this is the so called global warming culprit. No matter the energy source something has to give. Nothing last forever in it's current form anyhow. Are there really any "renewable" energy sources ? Even the sun will likely burn out someday. Cheers
I think you might be underestimating the size of the earth and its molten, mostly iron, core. The earth's core has stayed as hot as it has for billions of years because of frictional heating from heavier core elements sinking to the center of the core, the earth's rotations and likely tectonic plate movements, radioactive elements creating heat and simply because there are billions upon billions of tons of stuff pushing down on the core (Energy, Enthalpy, and the First Law of Thermodynamics Also, the deepest man has ever drilled was around 10km, the earths core is over 6400km down. We are nowhere even close to digging deep enough to hit temperatures that would even make a dent in the core's temperature.....we also can't just dig wherever we like, we have to drill in an area that the earth has decided to send molten material close to the surface. No, that heat (energy) is being mostly transferred into the heating of water to create steam that spins turbines. It's not going straight into the atmosphere. (See again: Energy, Enthalpy, and the First Law of Thermodynamics They consider geothermal "renewable" because most everything that comes out of the ground (minus the heat/energy) goes back in (once the steam is condensed back into water they send it back down into the ground). Nothing is truly "renewable". As you mentioned, even the sun will eventually burn out. I think the term that should be used is "sustainable energy". Geothermal/Wind/Solar/Nuclear are far more "sustainable" than fossil fuels are....and they are certainly much cleaner when used. Geothermal is certainly not even a minor contributor of global warming.
I'd be more interested in geocooling in the Philippines to cool my house if I built one. How cold id that well water? When I was washing at the well on Mindoro that water was cold enough.
