Thank's for stopping by Alex and nice chatting with you.

I never thought people would be complaining prices are to low encouraging me to raise prices! It may have to happen eventually but in the meantime you can always offer to pay extra... or just order more!

I guess pricing will be a balance act....how to keep it low enough and enjoy good customer flow but also sometimes better to be a little higher with less customer flow. Its a supply and demand thing and it very different for foreigners compared to Filipinos. I tried alot of places around Dumaguete and found the food net near Nichols to be a good balance of food and price. Tricky business your in for sure but keep up the good work and all will iron itself out.

Yah, its a tough thing to work out. Us foreigners unless we happen to be a nearby local of the place are kind of come and go. We'll fav a new place we like and visit a lot but in a couple months get bored and move to the next new good thing. Changing up the menu and adding new things can only be done so much (this is what the major fast food places do with short term new items). One has to try and capture the local market and if it includes Filipino's then prices have to be suited to be affordable to them as well because w/o the locals a small restaurant will fail eventually.

Agree with you on this But as an Accountant, I will say you can split it both ways, Price rises are the inevitable in life but can be used as an immediate rise in Gross profits and although I say Gross it will increase your Bottom Line immediately, So to suit both ends of your market just increase 5 peso per Item Today and give yourself say selling 50 items, a Bottom line increase of 250 peso tonight.
Now see how that goes and if it suits all do another 5 peso on the next Round, You will soon learn when it has reached the stage where you has to stop, when it discourages the local. Putting a sign up telling all that as from so & so it will be a 5 peso increase per item or whatever figure you choose [ say 5 p on main items 2 p on add ons] ( Due To Electric costs? ) many will soon tell you what they think, then be guided by the Response. Locals are used to instant increases but I do find they react better if they know before hand and a reason for it.

Just my Thoughts but informing your customers before hand will win you respect & as we know respect will be returned by cash in your Till.

True but your markup does not have to be the same across the board. Smaller profit margin on "Filipino food" keeps the locals happy while Expats can absorb a higher profit margin on "Expat food" especially when considering the presumed increase in quality ingredients and non-local spices etc.

We are back opened as of now after this mess of a brownout. Sorry to any folks that may have driven by (think I noticed one or two to late) to see us closed due to preserving our food stores under ice and freezers. We survived it though just fine. I'll thank the poorly mostly departed halo-halo ice for that!

Does Ecil's have air con ?

Also a clarification on the days you are closed/open.

    Thank you,

We don't have aircon sadly but we have fans running with some very nice halo-halo for those extra hot days. We are also open Weds-Mon, closed every Tuesday.

Our facebook page is also Ecil's Delights & Snacks so a good way to remember our hours and map to our location.

On a side note I'm running a bit behind but look for new things being added next week assuming this weekends test runs of a couple recipes goes well at home.

We have now added Buffalo Wings to our menu, very nice wings with a buffalo sauce we make ourselves. Rice meals will be coming in by the end of the week as well.

Great reviews and wish you all the best. Not easy surviving with a small resto off the highway but seems your doing great. Look forward to a visit once back in a month or so. Just a little confused re directions, maybe Jack can guide me down.
