QUEZON CITY, Philippines – An American national is in ‘hot-water’ after he was arrested for beating up his live-in girlfriend.

The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Joshua Greenberg, a native from the state of Mississippi.

Greenberg was arrested by police inside his room at 84 New York Mansion Montreal in Quezon City.

A complaint has now been lodged by the live-in girlfriend but only after her relatives saw her post photos of her bruises on her Facebook account.

Police say the victim sought the assistance of her relatives and friends after the foreigner beat her up and kept her from leaving the apartment they were living in. The partner and her young child were both being held against their will by Greenberg.

When Greenberg prevented the two from exiting the premises the girl then took photos of her face and other areas where he had hit her.

She then posted the photos to Facebook, catching the attention of her relatives who called the police to report the incident.

Police responded to the apartment immediately, helping the victim and her son to exit the apartment.

Could be, but if she could not leave the only outside contact could have been through FB. By holding her there was the male trying to denial his actions. Remember a typical a 30 year old male has a lot more emotions and a lot less emotional control, and awareness of the laws that us old timers here. If the guy was beating the girl and holding the girl and her child against their will, then he deserves what he gets. He would probably be in trouble in his native Mississippi if he did the same thing there. Just my thoughts..... no judgement whether he did it or not...

Well to me, that is like the Guy giving the Lady the Front door key. Something don't add up here. Did he want to get caught? Psychopaths are sometimes like Serial Killers, they actually want to get Caught but have to maintain peoples agony.

    JMHO But....................:cautious:

Agreed, JP. You don't keep someone a prisoner and then let them go on Facebook and tell the world about it. Must be a lot more to the story. But if she has bruises, and they are not self inflicted, and he is the only other person in the house, then he has a lot to answer for. He better have much worse damage to his own body to show he was just restraining her. No other excuse that I can think of.

Well, regardless of his motives or motivations, he ought to be in hot water if he did in fact abuse her physically, OR, if he did hold her and her child against her/their will - or both.

For sure, if the facts of this situation match up with what is claimed, this guy could use a thorough, several day long, psychiatric evaluation.

What does the Philippines do in cases like this? Slap the guilty on the wrist with a small fine, he pays a bit to the offended/family, and then march that offender to the nearest out-bound plane back to that person's passport country? Do they notify the person's in-coming nation of this type of offence committed? Or does the person return to their home country without anyone knowing of this and should he/she have a psych issue, simply re-offend (or worse) until caught?

    ******

Another thought - since you guys have posted threads here related to "Control Queens" - you don't think she set this guy up do you? Like to save face, extort money, to "get even" at him for past grievances, etc?

Or is he a "Control King" who has absolute control over his Kingdom and Serfs?

    Just wondering....

    V/R,

At this point we don't have enough info to know. There are filipinas who have flaming tempers and I am sure they could set themselves up to appear abused in order to get what they want. There are also expats who play a very controlling role in their relationship and some may actually be abusive. Which is it? Has the 'victim' already convinced you with her story? Did you ever watch any Philippine TV such as Willy' show where the ladies get money for showing tears and acting like they are so hard done by? It gives some insight into the use of emotion as a manipulation tool.

No. I'm not convinced of anything as the whole story isn't contained in the article.

That's why I was asking these questions about the Philippine "justice" system and how it would work in a situation like this.

Seems all of Mother Nature's creatures are manipulative to varying degrees and in various ways. Peacocks strut their feathers and on and on it goes, all the way up to the human level.

Just hope that should the guy be found to be the offender in this, that this is the end of his errant behaviour.

Surprised a 30 yr old from Mississippi is living here. Perhaps he has a disability pension. Nevertheless, I would not want to be in his shoes. I imagine if guilty and convicted (not sure if both are required here) his new jail buddies will not take kindly to his rap sheet.

As we know Domestic Violence is rampant here but once again, it involves a Foreigner so the "Rules of Engagement" will change :shifty:
