One of my least favorite things happened again a few weeks ago, the UK taxman cannot accept a certain document by e-mail so i have to send it by post aarrgghh no no no .
22nd March i sent it by EMS 1600 peso, took until 29th March to reach Manila gateway dispatch point and not in UK as yet.
I went to phipost and asked them to track it as maybe i was doing something wrong, i got 2 answers, first was UK has not updated their end, i told them the person i was sending to was going to e-mail me to confirm it's arrival, second answer was the internet was down in the office. CRAP
Is it me ? am i expecting too much for 1600 peso (23 UK pounds real money)
I checked with LBC and they want over 2000 peso to send a letter to UK (must be business class)
Can anyone recommend a reliable, affordable way to post to UK ?

Not really Charley I guess we are all in the same boat with Philpost, Last one I sent I did "Registered" That I think, gets sorted Quicker as if they get a complaint at manila they have to have answers. Most of the Stuff can be Tracked but I have Found that the Registered mail seems to be the one they don't like egg on their face over. I normally give my stuff 2 months to arrive before I start with the table thumping.
JFYI I am waiting now for my Life form from the UK for pension. They tell me it was sent March 4th. we will see.:pompus:

LBC is expensive but they got my mail (fingerprint cards for the military) to the US in about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. One of the downsides to living in a 3rd world country.

I send my still alive form to Denmark, as "registered". Staff in phipost said 2-3 weeks to Denmark, they tell many stories, lol. I have good experience with DHL, (Tagbilaran and Cebu) 3 days to Denmark, and easy to track on computer. I couldn't find DHL in Dumaguete, anyone who can help ? I use LBC here in Dumaguete, not that happy with there service, and not that easy to track my post, as it is with DHL. Expensive 22-2400 pesos with LBC and DHL, but is the only way to be sure, post will reach its destination

I always send letters to the UK though EXPATPOST. I put UK stamps on my mail and ask friends to post it when they arrive in the UK.

I remember a couple years ago I ordered off of ebay a set of crotchet needles for the lady taking up a new hobby at the time. They were fairly cheap and nothing fancy to think someone would want to swipe in transit. First off it was sent from the UK Royal Mail which when arrived in the PH due to how things worked transfered to PhilPost. I had tracking all the way to Manila where it just poofed after reaching PhilPost which doesn't take over tracking or update things. After weeks of checking in late I talked to the person I ordered from and they sent another one using DHL which stayed with DHL from the UK to arrival here. However when DHL tracking in the UK got to Manila the tracking just vanished altogether. I kept checking with DHL here in Dumaguete who called the Manila DHL and they kept saying its DHL UK's fault that they didn't do it right and bla bla bla. I did however eventually receive the item about 3-4 weeks late and when it arrived DHL here said it was a customs issue which doesn't make sense. The item was about $10US and how I understand things since it stayed with the same carrier they should have just had it checked and then forwarded it with a custom tax tacked on (which I paid adding I think 40p.

The point of my post is not so much against Philpost which we all know and probably forever will be crap but more against these idiots (in other countries) who declare that posted mail is more secure than e-mail.......

And another thing on the same subject is that banks and credit card companies let you buy stuff and transfer money online by using a plastic doodah that generates a pin number or they text you a pin number but for a change of address they need it in writing and posted to them, WHY.
This was a real pain when i was working as i moved around a lot, most times i did not bother with it but if the card was expiring and they had to send a new one then no choice.
I have found the postal service in other countries not so good either, from South Korea nothing ever went where i posted it unless it was registered, from Singapore i sent a birthday card + dollars to my daughter who was in Dubai at the time, believe it or not the card arrived but minus the cash...

That's a bad idea with any postal service. Most specifically warn you not to do so.
