Getting a passport for a filipina requires specific kinds of ID. A driver's license is one and that is the route we went. She has had a paper driver's licence for months waiting for the plastic one because someone at DFA said the paper one is 'probably' not good enough.

So on the the question: Unified Multi-Purpose ID is an acceptable ID but I do not know if she can apply for it locally. Anyone know where she can get a quick Unified Multi-Purpose ID??

Just print out a card with the following details.

    Eyes: Black
    Hair: Black

    Bat **** crazy.

Then hand that to the cashier with a 1000 peso tip. Negotiate as needed.

EDIT: Important to note. I'm not saying these details apply to the subject of this thread. Rather, these details are from my personal experience with relationships in Dumaguete.

We went to LTO and got her a student drivers permit. Copy of birth certificate, "medical exam" (30 second walk from LTO office), and 30 minutes waiting, then walked out with a valid picture ID.

One foot in and one foot out of topic - any idea how to make an online appointment at DFR Duma when the only options on the website are for the Manila offices??? :shakehead:

When you have all the required papers just go in there and the woman on front desk will check you have everything in order. If so you then proceed to processing.

Last week the guard gave us a piece of paper with directions to the passport section on their website and said follow what it says, which includes online appointment setting. Today we went back and he says "No online appointments, walk-in only"

It's more fun in the Philippines...
