I agree on the motorbike vs car bit.

 

Crushing may be the option for some, if it is not deemed economically feasible to return them to proper operating condition. Any that can be returned to proper operating condition should be sold but the buyer can't take possession until the motorcycle can pass safety, noise inspection and the owner shows up with registration and insurance. That would probably take a large percentage of them off the road right there without being wasteful. It might bring in a small amount of revenue for the city also. Or just crush them, I don't care, doesn't affect me anyway!

whats the procedure for getting a driving licence in the fair city, i have plenty of years driving experience ( and i have international licence), can i just transfer this licence ???, or do i have to jump through hoops
any and all advice is welcome,

You have 90 days you can drive on a valid foreign license. To convert your drivers license you now need to be able to show that you can legally stay in the country for 12 months, meaning 13A marriage visa retirement visa or I have heard of a case where they accepted a Balikbayan (entering the country with a Filipino spouse) if you go to LTO within a couple days of entering the country but as with so many things, your milage may vary.

Hopefully at some point they will relax the enforcement of driving license law. If you can't convert to a Philippines license I would just drive on my valid foreign license. How is the police to know you have been in the country more than 90 days? I never had anyone but immigration ask for my passport. If I had to do something illegal, I would rather it be driving without a valid license than some kind of conspiracy to get a fraudulent license. That's my take.

 

You can also get a Phil licence if you have an SRRV ID card.

 

I used to park my car at Robinsons, then take pedicabs into and around the downtown areas. End up at Robinsons to finish up my shopping then hop in my car and go home.

I havent went down the road of the 13A visa yet (although I have been married now for close on 6 years), but I'm never in the phils long enough to warrant it yet, and from the horror stories I
have read, regarding paying of extensions, dodgy lawyers etc etc etc, I think I might be better to do it in one foul swoop when we are at home in Ireland next summer and do it there, I recently bought a jeepney, AMLAN TO DUMAGUETE ROUTE, but the driver doesnt want it on a Sunday, so I was thinking I would get a licence then i can do the shopping, run around blah de blah my self on sundays in the jeepney

 

If it's a multicab I don't see a problem, if it's the big stainless steel monsters you might need a commercial license as I am thinking it would be over the gross vehicle weight and probably yellow commercial plates?
