Who knows a good contact in PLDT with a few brain cells? Looking for some information and a way to be the first Fibr customer...

I got new PLDT Fibr Cables going over my garden now here in Camanjac Dumaguete. The boys installing it explained me it is PLDT Fibr and it is working already... It is the extension going to Valencia via Palinpinon but i already see them putting cables on the way to Sibulan here also.

Of course if you ask in PLDT Robinson they will tell you no service here in Upper Camanjac, the box is full bla bla bla. So when i explained her that there is no box yet, because the cables are new so that information can not be correct... and I asked if she can ask her manager about when the new lines will be open for subscription. Maybe this year...

I find it hard to believe that a big company like PLDT dn't just have a schedule when work needs to be finished, so if anybody knows somebody at PLDT.... could we get reliable information. I am even willing to put a reward out for somebody who can connect me as long as it will be this month...

I work online, the Globe LTE Pre paid system is fast but the swapping sim cards makes me irritated and the Globe DSL just is hopeless. If it will really take another year for the Fibr to be available here ii will try to get me a Sky Cable connection again. Had it before, worked so so only not for VOIP/Skype witch I can route over my LTE modem.

Just because they have fiber lines going in doesn't mean they have any intention of offering home fiber plans. Most of their expansion in the last few years has been exclusively reserved for high end business customers. Only in really major cities have they offered fiber for home users and they are almost exclusively in rich areas.

I really don't see them offering fiber plans anytime in the next year or two here. They just redid their entire Dumaguete system plan and adding in fiber for home users would really hurt the rest of their business.

That don't make sense... so probably you are right...

It is not what the people in Robinsons or the installers said but i already know not to believe whatever they say.

I'm still hoping we get home connections, also because there is no need for that line here going nowhere and making all side connections to Sibulan. We have no PLDT DSL copper here ha, so Fibr is much cheaper to install anyway.

My brother in the US works for SBC communications. If someone cuts the fiber line it's expensive but bearable, junction boxes are expensive. I don't think you will convince them to install a junction box unless you bring them a whole lot of subscribers along with you. Then it wouldn't be cheap. I won't say it's impossible, but checkbook diplomacy will not be cheap and your problems are not theirs. If you can't live with what internet you have, I suggest you move where it is better because I doubt they are going to install a junction for what a dozen people are willing to pay.

    Anyway, Anyhow

Would be nice to hear from somebody in PLDT instead of all our 'expert' opinions...

What do you mean by this? Why are you swapping SIM cards?

    • I was wondering about that too! I was wondering about that too! x 1

I use Globe Pre Paid Sim cards with supersurf999 promo.
This will allow 800Mb per day, after that it is data capped and not useable anymore untill 24:00
Mostly this happens around 22:00 and i will put my sim card from my cell phone in the lte modem, swapped.

I never call with Globe anyway, so no problem there.

So for 999php per 30 days i get 24Gb with around 10~20Mbps up and down!

So the LTE connection is working perfect for me, just the data capping always happens when i am calling mostly with my boss...

(this is for work, voip calling and teamviewer sessions, we have a 5mbps Globe DSL with 8Gb per dag allowance for all netflix, torrent etc etc)

I'm really glad you said "our" expert opinions. If fiber is cheaper than cable where you come from, great! Fiber is not cheap in the Philippines. Pick up a phone and call PLDT then. I know you are irritated and it happens to everyone but I think you have gotten the best we here have to give.

I hope you prove me wrong. Have fun is my best suggestion, along with you might want to record a youtube video of your crusade for fiber for educational (others) and entertainment (mine) purposes. I think you will have better luck if you can get 300 homes and business close to you to demand to pay $80-$100 USD or 3,680 -4,600 php per month for fiber internet as that is what I'm told elsewhere it costs in Subic and Davao. I don't have a clue how much fiber costs where you come from but if it is cheap, I would expect it is an economy of scale with thousands of subscribers so they don't have to charge as much. Good day to you.

I have mentioned this before but I used my phone as my sole internet connection. I would just put load on the phone and use internet pay as you go 5 php for every 15 minute segment of time with no promo. I did not get throttled at 800MB. I DL 6GB of data once in 2.5 hours for a cost of 50php. Two things to remember, no promo and turn it off if you aren't using it. I believe Globe didn't throttle it because if they do, you will turn it off and they don't get your 20 php per hour. With a promo, you have already paid and you are locked in for the month. Good luck anyway.

Guess your right, to bad we will never get Fibr.

    Good day to u 2

PS i was comparing 1km or mile fiber or copper wire....
a fibr network is way cheaper to install then a copper network, concerning material costs. The service over fibr or copper is priced concerning the bandwith PLDT has to buy to connect to the aix in hong kong

I added to my post above. Have you tried pay as you go internet? Just put a regular sim in and put money on it? Not use a promo? I DL 6 GB of data one time in 2.5 hours for 50 php.
