Last night we had another sub 5 min brownout at just before 9pm, we have had many of these but this was now 2 nights in a row at exactly the same time.
I am not a power services expert but i am quite sure if something is broken you would have to be very lucky to fix it so quickly twice in a row, so this leads me to think that someone at the power station is shutting down one generator / Aladdins lamp or wherever electricity comes from before starting up the other one.
I don't know if this is happening through lack of training or what but all i can say is come on NORECO get your act together we are trying to watch Wimbledon here !!

Yes Charley we all get them it is when the Engineer reports the Load from the Substation to central and receives instructions to Turn off one of the Big Transformers as the load is lower, They do a Rotation of Quiet Transformers so as to Cool them and do any maintenance work on those closed Down. Basically it is load Sharing.

Thank goodness I don't, or I should say I don't get that very often. Brownouts where the amount of power fluctuates, yes, 5 minute blackouts no. It would suk big time as my Internet would go down and whatever I was doing at the time would be lost. And yet, if it was happening every day I would just be forced to buy a UPS for my Internet modem.

As i said i am not an expert but surely even here by 2016 they must be able to swich the other one on before they shut the working one off and keep the power continuous.

On the Upgraded Substations I believe they can and do, this is why some will not experience the 5 mins out, On the older stuff it is still manual I believe and I would not want to mess with 69.+kv

While we are on the electricity subject the voltmeter on my voltage stabilizer reads around 210/215 during the day but during the evening it can drop to 200 and momentarily dip below that, is that normal for here ?

Good price, I've know people who claim to have paid 100K pesos for a transformer then have to pay to get it installed then have the electric company try to tap into it to supply the surrounding houses. Did you get employee privilege or is that the price for anyone?
