The reckless b@st@rd who caused/contributed to the injury accident at about mile 11 of the National Hwy last Monday was a younger foreigner driving a huge black SUV---think it was a Toyota Land Cruiser!!!!

8888 is the Globe number to select a promo and they respond back on it verifying the promo selected. So they are adding a presidential complaint promo now?

I'd love to know the vetting process for something like this. Say my neighbor upsets me, so I call and say I've seen many people coming and going and suspect he is a drug dealer. Does he get arrested and then get's set free 6 months later? The thing that seems to be missing is punishment for people who falsely use something like this for a personal vendettas. There needs to be checks and balances. I know someone who got setup by some who disliked their promotion to a lead at a construction site. Someone put a piece of scrap wire worth less than $5 in their backpack. When leaving the job site it was found and this person was arrested and put in jail. After bailing them out and getting a lawyer, they had to go to court 3 times before the charges were dropped. In other words the company that filed the charges never showed up, not just once, but 3 times. All this over a $5 piece of wire. The cost of this whole fiasco far exceed the cost and seriousness of the crime, even if the person was guilty. Just imagine if everyone gets in the act including all the politicos?

I guess it was the recent Duarte accusation around 5 generals that had me thinking it might just be true. My statement about the craziness of the Philippine legal system still stands.

I fully agree, I'm not thrilled with the US legal system either.

I would agree, but if I ha to choose between the two, I'd take my chances here.

I'm split on that decision. In the US the state might prosecute you for something that nobody has complained about, for instance driving on a suspended license (mine isn't, just an example) and you would face a big fine, possibly probation, all up it might cost $3-5k. Get 3 of those and it could be a felony. In the Philippines for 500 php it probably never happened unless there was an accident. But then there would be someone complaining.

But we are off topic, this isn't the law and order thread.

"*** Personal Attack / Confrontational Content Removed. ***"

Thanks to the moderator for cleaning up the thread . I think this was a good question, but quickly transformed into personal attacks. I think most appreciate DI because of the exchange of information and I hope it stays that way. Personally if I do not like a thread then I ignore it, if I can add some positive information, I try. I am not afraid of controversy, but I think the "punches should be kept above the belts". I do realize and accept we all have occasional bad days and sometime vent it out on DI. :grumpy:

I visit other blogs at times and in too many situations there are a few members of those blogs that keep up personal attacks on everyone and everything. Sometime it is caused by the admin who is trying to build blog with controversial topics that sometimes brings out the worst behavior in people. That type of behavior most likely discourages positive comments and content and exchange of ideas with a "friendly community feeling" on the blog.. I am glad there is an effort being made not to allow DI to follow the lead of other blogs.
If you like to attack others, and play "nationalism" games etc, then there are other blogs that have already taken on that format. I can understand nationalism humor between some here, as it is on a friendly basis and goes on whether on the blog or in person.

I appreciate the "Admins" effort to keep this a friendly community.
