If you look under a user's avatar you will see a flag. Unless a person is using a VPN or proxy service that is likely where they are posting from.

I was thinking some threads, especially ones like this one on internet connection speeds, getting all the way down to the City or even Barangay is informative for relevant comparisons.

It is nice that you seem to have it set up to recognize where we are posting from instead of relying on us to remember to update our location as we move or put silly locations like Duma USA etc.

Tried your suggestion on PLDT landline with 5 Mbps plan. Ping is 205 to LA, Download is almost exactly what I paid for and upload is dismal, which sucks but is there a better plan for uploads?

Won't find a better plan for uploads unless you can get a fiber contract with PLDT or Globe which is pretty much exclusively for call center type business's in Dumaguete. Nothing available for regular business's or residential that will be much better. May have a *little* better upload with Fil Products. Of course how much are you uploading after all as most aren't doing much uploading beyond some FB pictures and video's unless your running a server for stuff.

Just make sure your also testing during prime time (6-10pm and especially on weekends).

This is just local? You should try to ping an international server.

Check it vs an international server or it doesn't mean squat.

what do yáll think of 2Wire.com: Bandwidth Meter as far as a speed test? i'd think their server isn't located in da fils but there IS a php at the end of the address.

i like it cuz it's fast and no fils or ads but i'm not i'net savvy. there's no upload speed or ping test but do i need to know that stuff?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What does this test actually measure?
This connection tests how fast your computer can load a Web page from the 2Wire Website. It does not measure the speed of your ISP connection, but rather the speed at which the page is received and appears in your browser.
