I agree, 50 P parking ticket to park anywhere you want for a long as you want, what a bargain... wow that is lower than parking lot fees in most civilized/urbanized cities in private lots. I do not think it will even effects the registration being held up on a vehicle if you do not pay the fine...... So I guess for the driving issues to be resolved by ticketing to clean up the illegal parking in Dumaguete will not work. We will have to go with Dutertes "shoot to kill program for illegal parking." :wtf:

If they wrote a lot more tickets, the line to pay them could become a factor and a deterrent in itself.

Using a wheel clamp and a raise of the fine to a couple of thousand peso will do the trick, I think.

Boot them or tow them---what a source of revenue for the city/politicians! Most major citys in the West have provisions for removing the offenders illegally parked vehicle---it doesnt take too many $500 fines/impound fee and illegal parking tickets for even the most rude or stupid to learn

The problem might be with the people with no stake in the game. The tricycle driver who rents the trike will just walk away. Somehow I don't think the law would be evenly enforced.

You have just described exactly how your proposal would apply to foreigners but do you really expect it would apply to wealthy and connected Filipinos? Do you expect it would be applied to poor Filipinos? It very well could be applied to foreigners though. As many foreigners as there undoubtedly are, I doubt they impact the traffic enough to make the enforcement against only them to have much effect. Just be careful you don't get hoist by your own petard.

If you just want some social justice, break the valve stem on their wheels. I always get metal valve stems but most people don't.

The trike system is a large part of the problem, there are too many except when it rains. If there were about 1/3 fewer trikes, they wouldn't have time between fares to loiter and snarl traffic, creeping along looking for a fare. With 1/3 fewer trikes they wouldn't just be cruising around empty, they would be moving like they had a purpose.

I could imagine i am in a lush oasis surrounded by handmaidens but it still won't change the FACT that Dumaguete has too many motorbikes driven/parked by ignorant c*nts and why, because they can.......

A 50p parking ticket is pretty serious when you are only making 250 a day. Traffic cops were issuing a lot of bike tickets by the Portal West building yesterday.

It's a hard balance to get the cost right on tickets, maybe the bikes p50 per ticket but many a time people who just stop and block everything up with suv's or new cars who just don't care should be fined a lot more!
As for portal west ticketing I think that may be pressure from siliman campus as noticed they are getting quite pro active on ilegal parking in the area.

I have to agree with Wyre. Motorcycles add craziness but aren't the real congestion. The real congestion comes from everything else. Go to Robinson's and turn right to go downtown and before the bridge you'll be held up by at least 3 trucks and not little trucks, 2-3 Ceres bus's, a dozen trikes picking up and letting people off often double parking rather then going 10 meters forward where they could pull over fully.

Then downtown you have plenty of cars and SUV's that can't find a proper parking space so they double park constantly. Try getting past the cockpit when the fights are on and the way through that main street is tiny because of all the motorcycles triple parked by the so called parking attendants along with so many of the vehicles just going by slowing down to and looking to try and see what is going on in the fight.

Add in the *Traffic Enforcers* that apparently work for Robinson's as they will block highway traffic at times to cater to Robinson's customers and they do the same thing for churches and various other business's. Schools I completely understand but the rest is utter nonsense.

Go down the one way that West Elementary School is on and down a bit half of the street at least is constantly blocked by double parkers and trucks delivering goods. Go down the highway road through downtown and at the market area having people constantly randomly crossing with trucks parked up on the left side and the entire right side being double and triple parked with trikes and we can't forget the trikes on the left who all of a sudden want to pickup/dropoff someone who will cross way over slowly blocking everyone else off to the right side.

Nope, motorcycles add craziness and madness to the mix but the problem of traffic is trucks, trikes, lack of parking, and just plain a$$hole's who care more about their own convenience then proper parking and stopping techniques. But then will LTO and the Traffic Enforces (who's jobs are actually to create traffic congestion where their isn't enough as that is what they do) actually change their ways to improve things?

That reminds me, there is a perfectly good road going around the back of Robinsons that could be used by people who want to bypass the intersection and congestion. But few are permitted to use it. What a crock! Sure wish I could build myself a private road that no one else is allowed to use.

So my point/question is: Does Robinsons own that road? If so is a little give and take in order? I mean if the Traffic Enforcers are helping Robinson's customers get to the mall, shouldn't the mall assist the non-customers to bypass the mall and get out of the way?
