You are seeing Filipino Justice system in action. The cases just disappear. This has got to be one of the best countries in the world to murder someone, as no on is brought to justice. That is the Justice system the UN wants to be used here with drug dealer/users, etc

I doubt Dave if we will see this one disappear. Some very capable and serious forensic experts from Manila (there are some in this country) are looking at a lot of evidence right now. Property crimes are crimes of opportunity, give a burglar the opportunity and he/they will accommodate you by stealing from you. Stabbing someone over 20 times is personal, interesting to see how this plays out.... I think a lot of people will be in shock imho.....

I agree with you Gerry, I hope there is a resolution to this crime. I hope this crime does not follow the typical investigation result we so frequently never hear about (no resolution). Like most, I have heard many rumors, that really do not need to be repeated because there is not much foundation under them. However we all know the success rate of solving crimes here also. If there are some forensic experts in Manila spending time on this crime there may be a solution. Obviously some one has put a little fire under the authorities to get someone working on a meaningful solution if your facts are true. I hope so. Most of the times is seems like there are intense discussions of crimes like this one way into the night; until most people involved fall off their bar stools. :banghead:

I still believe until I see real crime resolution results, that the Philippines is a great place to do a crime of this type. Between impunity and incompetence the chances of getting away free are very high. I would not try it in the US, and most other first world countries.

The things I have heard about this case from someone I do not personally know, but known well the group we were in he was talking to would completely support this statement. Since I do not know the people involved, nor the reliability of the source of the information (could be anywhere from 0% to 100% factual. I need to investigate the source's reliability more) I think it is best I do not repeat it here as it would certainly, as mentioned above, shock people.

Anything at this point, unless coming directly out of the mouth of an investigator or prosecutor that is actively involved in the case, is pure speculation and hearsay, and if they are still investigating/processing evidence I highly doubt they are divulging full and complete information to much of anyone that is also not part of the investigation. I'm sure the victims friends and family are being somewhat kept up to date and/or trying to piece it together from questions/actions taken by the investigators but if (one or more) of the suspects happens to be in one of those two groups I suspect the authorities aren't going to be giving out any hints.

Best not to put too much weight with what anyone claims to know. Let the process, which can be very long and tedious, run its course.

I heard a tid bit the other day that the NBI is seeking the extradition of the wife and the couple who were visiting them from Bohol. Maybe here say but interesting. They all left here pretty quick.
