I was gonna stop by for breakfast a few weeks ago and found the gate closed. After waiting a while for 10 am an eziride driver said he was closed on Tuesday. Ralf and Aurora paid about 10 million for this place several years ago and from the looks of it it needs renovation bad. I got acquainted with Aurora several years ago at McDonalds and visited there. I once waited an hour for a pizza that never came and hadn't been back until a few weeks ago. I wish them well. shakey
I was just out at La Fiesta last week for a late lunch/early dinner. Had the jaeger schnitzel which came out in about 20 minutes and tasted as it always has (very good).
This was brought up when I was there on my last visit. I believe I recall P8.5M being mentioned. Best to check with Ralph on that one. I know some might gawk at the price but I believe there are several things that many wouldn't factor into the price: the main thing being that he property/business is owned and not leased. If I remember correctly the first owner of Zanzibar was asking P4M with a 4-5 year lease, Black Pearl wanted P1-2M for their 2-3 year lease, Garcia's was P1-2M for a 4-5(?) year lease, the old Sizzlers restobar wanted P1M with 1 year left of the lease, The Road House....lol I don't remember the price asked but they were right at the end of their lease and months behind on rent and staff wages, that one was just the buying of a failed restobar name with absolutely zero customer base.....some of these might have been worth the asking price depending on sales/operating costs/proper business and building permits/lease options/etc, but I suspect most probably were not. Once that lease is finished any improvements made to the property are brownie points for the property owner and you're finished. I have no idea what La Fiesta is worth (and I gain nothing from it being sold or not) but being able to actually own the property (to those legally allowed to do so) should certainly be taken into consideration.
It's sad to see this place get bad reviews. It's like reviewing somebody's party pad. I have always had a great time at La Fiesta, Ralph is passionate about food and a fun guy to hang out with. Leave the tourists to give the reviews. The expats already know what's going on, and a bad review won't keep me from exploring anyways. The business owners here are part of the same small community, giving them bad reviews just puts a bad taste in the mouth of people who may already be on the fence of sticking around due to many reasons (every expat has his/her list). While expats are in these businesses to make money, their secondary reasons are usually to provide a place to hang out with friends. I would rather see these places stay, even if they don't always get it right.
Did your purchase include 2000 square meters of walled property with highway frontage? If not, his investment seems much more sound. Businesses fail, but property never goes away.
We have never had anythign but great meals at La fiesta. if anyone has a complant, Ralph will fix it. it would be difficult to find better food value here than la fiesta serves up.
Just correcting a small point, no one mentioned anything about business investments. lol I have personally encouraged people going out that way to pop in. The food is good, its a clean and roomy area, its just a bit far out of town for myself
i know where san miguel is but where is La Fiesta Garden Inn located in san miguel? on the beach?, on the hiway? on the seaside or the mtn side of the hiway? thanks...
La Fiesta is on the highway on the mountain side. It is 100 meters before the Dauin/Bacong boundary. Kilometre marker 12.
