My Globe wifi has become useless with my HP laptop, but is fairly good when using my cp or tablet..

I read that its probably bcz the laptop is older than the other devices and its WiFi is outdated.

I.bought a usb thing to upgrade the HP WiFi to the latest version which I forgot the nomenclature-but it ends in .
    ac, but it didn't help.

My laptop works fine at Bo's blvd btw

I think the question is why hasn't the laptop improved with the dongle. You router must support the ac specification above to be of any use, otherwise it will negotiate down to the the highest common specification, like a, g, n, etc.

IEEE 802.11 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maybe Bo's has a more recent router and you are connecting with ac. Maybe the laptop is line of sight with the router. The other thing to consider is the frequency that is used by the router and what structure is between the laptop and the router. Newer routers support both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz radios. The higher frequency tends to have less interference, but goes a shorter distance if there are obstructions like walls.

What is the difference between 2.4 GHz and 5GHz? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

There are options like extenders to increase the wifi range. You other devices if newer may have better antennas or be using a new spec. Good luck.

Would that be useless as in slow or not working at all? Are your drivers up to date? The simple fix would be to run an ethernet cable.

When you say useless do you mean not working at all? May want to check your network settings and make sure that it didn't get switched to thinking your connected to a public network which if you have any sharing on as well some older versions of windows could shut down your wifi thinking its an unsafe connection. It would show that your connected and have internet access but wouldn't actually open anything on the internet.

Bo's may be paying for a higher level of internet as well.

It's working with the laptop sort of good right now. I've noticed that rebooting the computer often helps-which from what I read online indicates the RAM is reset or cleared. But when rebooting does help it's only for a few minutes

I've ordered an extension SMA cable to move my router antenna to line of sight. Ethernet cable'd be cheap enough to try.

I'm trying to look at that HP site here now but all I'm seeing is a power cord update. Though the page doesn't load up fully so I'll have to try it at Bo's and see if there's anything else to know.

Ah it did load up but only gives me choices of Windows 7 or 8 when selecting "Version" after selection Windows as my OS.

    I have Windows 10

If you are running windows 10 you might have the update settings allowing your pc to used for providing updates to other pc's.
Go to settings click on updates and security, select advanced options and then select chose how updates are delivered. turn off the button that allows your pc to used for delivering updates. Then in settings home page select the Privacy button and scroll down to the bottom select background apps and turn off all the apps running in the background that use up your processors speed.
Also the repair shop Algorithm can help you. I had a intermittent problem similar to yours and it was a loose Ram connection. they Cleaned and reseated the ram for 400P
