i have visited bayawan several times now and every time I visit I find something new to see.
Had to got meet a friend there today and try and find some fish which is difficult to find here, the fish market was very clean along with the rest of it and everything labled with a price.
What I was impressed with is most of the tricycles are now electric and very smal and this was in bayawan and sta catalina. Maybe the local government have some sort of deal for them to change, they were pretty fast also, the bikes were racal and a single seat li,e a push bike and the frame of the seating part was tube steel.
Ate lunch at pepe's on the boulevard which is always good food with aircon and fast service even though lightening struck a transformer just down the road whilst we were there.
Plenty of places to see there inc caves, waterfalls and several Spring pools which you can swim in.
Met with several foreigners who pretty much live off grid in the mountains and stay well away from all the bullshit down below, surprised me how many live up that way. Maybe a upcoming place for foreigners in the near future as way too busy and way too much crap down this way now.

I made a few visits there and liked it. I have recommended Bayawan City to others.

Agree about Bayawan. My wife's family lives there, a couple in town, but most near Pagatban River 8-10 km down the road. So we have spent a fair amount of time there over the years. The boulevard is a lot longer than Dumaguete, and you can actually walk to the water. You can watch sunset (instead of sunrise in Duma) over the ocean too. If any one visits, check out the C&L rooftop resto, same setup as the C&L in Dumaguete, just not as tall, but still nice view. The C&L is where we usually stay now. It's a vast improvement over the pension style places that used to be the only accommodations when we first visited in the 80's. There is also a nice open/native style resto along the beach called "Talipapa" where our niece's wedding reception was held.
Here's a link to Talipapa, but it's really not as fancy as these pictures make it out to be. From what I'm told, the owner of the Philsouth construction company (Tiera Alta, etc.) hails from Bayawan, so he's got some local investments.

We have taken V-hire the last couple of trips because of the amount of luggage we had, and we made it in less than 2 hours the last trip. Driver drove like crazy though! I think a rough estimate for the bus would be a 2 hours & 15 minutes, more or less depending on traffic, construction, weather, number of stops, etc.

FYI, the City of Bayawan "officially" says two hours.

Yes yes! I don't know why expats would ever want to move to Dumaguete or Valencia when Bayawan is just right down the road. Bayawan is an absolutely LOVELY place to retire! Bayawan City has to be one of the "top 5 best places to retire in the world"! Not sure how Forbes overlooked it, HUGE mistake on the author of that article! If you don't like the city life of Bayawan you can always move up the mountain near Basay - which has to be on my top 10 places to retire - for a nice quite (and much cooler) life! Bayawan, Bayawan, Bayawan!:thumbsup::thumbsup::sneaky::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nonsense. I can get to that wonderful city on my own wheels in about an 1 1/2. Such a short and beautiful ride to the lovely city of Bayawan! (I do drive a bit fast but it's only because I'm just so darn excited to get to Bayawan! :smug:)

BTW: Bayawan is just a stone's throw away from Sipalay. Which is just like Boracay without all the tourists!
    Thread re-featured!

Did you used the north route over Tanjay or the south route over Zamboanguita for the 1 1/2 h? Looking at the google routeplanner means the north route is shorter but slower. And the faster travel will takes a bit more than 2 h.
How did you managed that to get there in just 1 1/2 h with all the people and animals on the streets? :o o::hilarious:
And which vehicle did you used?

Southern route on a sports bike. Blast through those straight stretches around 220+kph and you'll get there in an hour 1 1/2 hours. Get a loud enough exhaust and people/animals hear you coming will get out of the way...usually. Remember that momentum is conserved: for little animals and humans just aim center mass, lean back, put your head down and prepare to eat up what little momentum they have to offer. For larger objects i suggest hard-controlled breaking and as a last resort I'd rather slowly donate momentum to the pavement than make an instance transfer to something with equal momentum or worse, a Ceres bus.

Me thinks you are trying to trying to encourage people to stay away from Dumaguete so you have have it all to yourself. :sneaky:
