I guess he means 1 & 1/4 but in his defence I have heard others call it 5/4 Silly but that's life but something tells me you already knew That yes?
My mom, being a math teacher, would have given me a slap to the back of the head for saying 5/4th. lol Might be commonly said in construction though, I really have no idea.
There used to be a military truck (M-715) called a 5/4, 1-1/4 ton cross country capacity, 2-1/2 ton on road. It was a beast and I wanted one. They are all antiques now though.
5/4" is a very common term used by plumbers for 1 1/4". But for the 1 1/2" they used that 1 1/2" term.
Closing the loop on this. Now my water pressure during the daytime is enough to supply my upstairs CR all day! Been this way for the past 3-4 days now and I'm happy to be able to take a hot shower (upstairs) even if it's 1 pm!
In many part of Dumaguete they turn the water pumps from about 10 PM to 4 PM so they is little to no water pressure or water available at night. The concept I have been told is to save on electricity to save money. I guess they is no concept of the utilities to provide service for their captured audiences for heath and safety issues. I guess if you have no electricity in your house or just lack electronic entertainment (TV) you do not stay up after 10 PM so water is needed. Each night before I go to sleep after 10 PM I pray that whoever made the decision to cut water at 10 PM has his/her house catch on fire at 10:15 and it burns until 4 AM when the water comes back on, or he comes home with a the smell of his mistress on him, and can not take a shower. I hope his wife smells the juices of his mistress and lights his life on fire and tries to beat the fire out until 4 AM. Maybe then they will be more considerate to their utility uses needs.
Turning the water off completely at night as they have been doing lately is a real health hazard as well as what Dave mentioned about fires. At night we have a negative pressure which allows a back flow. That back flow will be sucking in contamination from every leak, big or small. So, every night they are contaminating the whole system with who knows what, human waste, dog droppings, pig sh*t, anything that is in the ground or near the above ground pipes. Disgusting. Just how much electricity can be saved at night when few are even using the water ? And if you get sick at night and have the Hershey squirts/runs/ diarrhea, good luck cleaning that mess up with no water.
None! but that charlie is not the issue, they say that they need to conserve the Pumps If the pumps are not running at 1 am then they are conserving themselves. If properly maintained? There should be NO problem. Every 2/3 days I have to go to my MIL (94) and clean the Filters out. I broached this with DWD and they say basically TOUGH
If they fixed all the leaks and crap pipe work it would help save a lot. They should also be building sealed concrete storage tanks which were on slightly higher ground also. They would net be expensive to build either then everyone would have atleast some water at night. Bacong is no different as several times a year one of the two pumps goes down and one is just not enough so it is imperative to have some sort of storage for water. I think they have 2 or three guys here who go around fixing stuff on the water side,they are paid around p150 a day and use their own bikes and tools,the municiple pay the fuel only and all the rest is up to them! Been like it since I've been here and it ain't changing anytime soon as no one really gives a sh*t. The top pump on the side of the bacong-Valencia road pumps black sand and blocks up the pipes so filters needed to stop it getting into the house water system. The well was damaged in the 2012 quake but the municiple say they cannot afford to drill a new well.
