When i see the antics people get up to on the roads in and around Dumaguete it surprises me that there are so few road accidents, the motorbikes coming from the right hand side roads onto the main highway without even looking always amaze me even though i have seen it so many times, another classic is the pedestrians stepping into the road not on a crossing not even looking in the traffic direction and waving one hand at the traffic and walking so slow like they have lost their way.
I think many people here would benefit from an experience i had as a teenager in the UK, my school was in the centre of the city so i had to walk through some busy streets, one day a man around 50 stepped off the pavement and was hit by a car, i don't know if he was drunk, distracted, suicidal or just plain stupid but when looked at him lying unconscious or dead there were no visible marks on him but there was a lot of blood coming from his ears, i don't know if he survived but this experience was a definite game changer for me and i instantly gained 1000% more respect than i had before for road safety.

LTO over by the provincial prison offers driving classes (my friend said it was all in visayan), but my friend (American) was still able to pass her test and get a driver's license. They might have books or study material available there.

Next time a monkey overtakes me whilst I am turning I am going to run him over.

You have seen monkeys driving?! :meh:

If you have gotten to the point of calling them monkeys perhaps it is time you get out of their country for awhile. Do you really think they owe it to you to change how they do things? Or that they owe you anything at all? If you can't adapt to the way they drive, or the way they do anything else, you will be nothing but miserable and find nothing but trouble. If you are just venting frustrations that's one thing (we all do it from time to time), but if you really see them as only monkeys then you are going to have nothing but trouble.

I don't know about monkeys but i saw what can only be described as a tw@t doing a wheelie on his motorbike at around 3pm Saturday on the national highway between Bacong and Dumaguete, it was not only a few seconds wheelie, this tw@t disappeared out of sight still doing it.
Now i don't care if the tw@t fell off and spilled what little brains he may have or if a cere's bus was to come along and grind him into fertilizer, what i do care about is if the said tw@t was to injure some innocent person by his actions.

Meh, there are worse things that drivers do in the Philippines. If a rider knows how to keep the front wheel of the ground for more than a few seconds without wiping out he is probably a much better driver then you are.

There is a time and place for (almost) everything and the place for wheelies is under a circus tent or an Evel Knievel type show but definitely NOT the public highway.

My last post was an abhorrent comment? Really? I guess things seem worse when you start to get old, crusty and boring. Maybe best if some people hire a driver so they can sip on their prune juice while heading in town to watch their wives run errands.

(Now this could be considered an abhorrent post. :troll:)

    No just stupid
I just hope nobody you love/like or care about is ever injured or killed by a wheelie tw@t or something similar in stupidity.
