    They have dreams of looking like places like Singapore but they refuse to take out their own rubbish or even call it what it is.

    A bit unrealistic on their part to even think they could reach that goal. Singapore is a city state (a much smaller area with a fraction of the population and political clans...and a much more unified/less diverse group of people) and they tend to not elect idiots to the highest office. The Philippines will never even come close to hitting that level of cleanliness and development.
