New LTO Driver's License Law

You would think, right? It's different here. That's why one guy with a too-tall palm tree is about to see the Sibulan Airport close to jet airliners half the time. One would think that the government could just use eminent domain laws, condemn the property....or at least the tree...and get on with it. NOOOOOO! Can't do that here. Oh, well. Just take the train, I guess. Um...oops.

Say you dont have yourinternational licence with you and show your valid home country licence.
Sometime they will ask for passport to check for entry date but most of the time they let you go.
Polite and friendly attitude helps alot.

 

Nine out of ten that PNP officers has no idea about this specific rule allowing a foreigner to drive around in the PH with a home country license. That is my experience, before I had a PH driver's license. If you tell them your home country license is an international license that will believe it as well.
However LTO officers are better informed of course and if you are lucky you meet one in a good mood well maybe he will waive you away.
If not, expect you get the appropriate fine to pay for.
