Hello DI Community, I've found this GREAT thread on the forum about shipping a car from MNL to DGT and it was really helpful, but also 6 years old: Shipping car from Manila to Dumaguete In the thread people mentioned Super Ferry, Pronto Express and Sulpicio Lines. Is the information still up to date? Did a member here recently ship things from MNL to DGT and could give some advice? Thanks for your help, guys! Btw, So far I've inquired 2Go about shipping only the small motorbike and they've quoted Php 2,300.00. Edit: My wife just called Pronto Express. They offer a nice door-to-door service. They pack up your stuff in your house, drive it to the port, and deliver it to your destination. They will send a surveyor to the house first to have a cost estimation. The lady on the phone was nice as well. So far a good experience.
Super Ferry was bought out by 2Go shipping several years ago and they are the only ferry, that I am aware of, that still does the Manila - Dumaguete route on a regular basis. P2,300 is not a bad price for a motorbike. Does that include the driver's ticket on the ferry? For the household goods, if that includes a lot of furniture or a large crate worth of goods, you might want to look for a door-to-door shipping company. I used one many years ago to move from Olongapo to Dumaguete but I can't remember the name of the company. It cost around $1k USD but that included a 2 bedroom apartment worth of furniture (a very large and heavy crate) and a car. That price got me a completely hands off shipping method. They showed up, moved everything out, built a crate, put it on a truck, drove it along with the car to the ferry in Manila, dealt with the nonsense at the port, got to Dumaguete, drove it up to Valencia and moved everything in the house there. The only thing they didn't do was remove the crate but that was easy enough to deal with...just yell "free lumber" to all the nosy neighbors wondering who is moving in and it will be gone before you turn back around.
4 yrs ago we used 2GO to ship a 10ft container of our House hold goods plus motorbike from Ormoc to Iloilo. They brought the container to our house loaded it, filled out the manifest and put a seal on the door with my lock. I think the total cost of everything pickup shipping and delivery was 10,000 Php
I was the OP of that 6 year old thread, have had to change my username due to forgetting login info....but, we did use Pronto Express and were very happy with their services. They were very professional and their rates were very good. I still stand by the recommendation. Car made the trip on the ferry, no problem...we didn't have to put it in a container.
