I am missing my tools as I need some basic ones for general household stuff (like taking the washer apart to clean it) and do some work on the new motorcycle (for some reason Honda thinks it is a good idea to have A/C headlight and taillight which dim at idle).

So, I need a basic rachet set, wire stripper/crimper, wire connectors, and wire.

Any brand recommendations? What store will have them available for the best price? (I used to enjoy tool shopping but my d*mn back won't shut up lately so I need to get in and get out.)

Hi! If you want branded and high end products you can visit handyman in robinson's place or the Uymatiao hardware in Perdices St.. However if you would wan't a much cheaper you can buy some good tools in Unitop, Tops and Bottoms or Novo department store. The durability will depend on your ability to choose and maintain such tools. By the end of the day though, both high end and cheaper tools were all made in China...

I want tools that will last more than one use (Unitop) but in reality I don't need to replace my craftsman tools with that quality either. Just looking to get the fairings off the bike or the panels off the washer and crimp connectors that stay connected, and test wiring without getting shocked by or melting a multimeter.

Basic homeowner quality (usable) at a good price.

Stanley hand tools available at Handyman...Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, light power tools available at Matio and Rejoice hardware. Rejoice is my pick as they are the factory warranty outlet for Dewalt.. Great parts, warranty and service from them...

Once when I was young, and dinosaurs roamed the earth, I decide to buy a "skill saw" (really a circular saw). My neighbor was a general contractor. He asked what type of was going to buy, of coarse I proudly said "Skill brand, the best" he replied that I would probably use the circular saw twice a year, so I really did not need the military grade of tools. I have always remember that as wise advice. I dropped my pride, and bought was worked for me for the job I was doing.
For those familiar with Colin Chapman, the original mind behind Lotus Cars, he was really against weight on a race car. As an engineer, his stated goal was to have a race car pass the finish line first, and collapse on the spot, because that distance was all the was required of the car that day.
So I guess I am saying, buy the tool required to go the distance you are planning to go.

When I was young, and dinosaurs roamed the earth I decided I needed ar "Skill Saw" (circular saw) for work around my first home. My neighbor was a general contractor and asked me what type of saw I was going to buy. I proudly said, "Skill brand saw, the best". He gently explained to me that I probably would only need to use the saw once or twice a year, to cut a few boards. I really did not need the best, most expensive military grade saw. That was wise advice I still remember. I dropped my pride and I bought the sale brand at $19.95 (probably about 1972) and it worked well for me. I have lost or had more tool rust away than I have ever worn out by use.
For those familiar with Colin Chapman, the engineer inventor of Lotus Cars, you may appreciate his concept of building race cars. His fever against weight in a race care and was so infamous for making his cars very light. His dream was to have the car pass the finish line first, and then fall apart as it had used ever ounce of mechanical strength he had designed into the car. His formula worked well and made Lotus famous to this day, for more than just winning .
I have lost or had more tools rust out from non use, than I have every had worn out because of my demands and use. What I am trying to say, is buy the tool that will get you to the finish line.

if its a once twice gig (then go for unitop), if its something you will use over and over again, then i would buy online and get some value out of it, but just a few hand tools go to unitop, use them and give them away to a local (they will look beyond the rust and scars and get endless hours of use out of them)

I couldn't agree more if I were a guy. My bf bought me an IKEA drill/driver but it doesn't serve much for me since I don't have a guy's strength for old rusty screws. My hand saw is already 11 years old, cheap one, well taken cared of so not a single rust at all. I am not a fan of the ones that come in a set with a fancy case especially if you don't use all of them--they only take up storage space. Even in the kitchen, I only need one very good knife and a very good chopping board. How I hate those hundred yen stuff my bf buys. In the long run, you spend more of them and end up throwing away. Better quality when you use it often.

hmmm, the Title of the thread is "Where to find Hand Tools?
The questions in post #1 are 1)"Any brand recommendations?" 2)"What store will have them available for the best price?"
and I clarified in post #3 "Basic homeowner quality (usable) at a good price."

How is post #7, a story about not needing to purchase professional tools the "Best Answer"? Nothing wrong with the post but it does not answer any of the questions...
