Well done, Barryrio. Some good ideas and connections I see. How about the 'CASE' tractor with the front scoop. Available for hire, I assume??

Col from Oz .. just about to 'kick off' our construction!!

Again, well done Barryrio. Enjoyed viewing your new abode. I have not chosen a builder as yet .. nor have we been quoted on our project as my Filipina partner hopes her family and friends will be directly involved. Okay by me .. as long as they pass the litmus test. However, having been involved in three housing projects in Oz (mainly as a direct observer and in minor areas) I am fully competent in what is right and what is not right. As a backstop I will have a local municipal engineer (watchdog and periodic inspector) at my disposal to check the boxes, so to speak. Will keep DFI up-to-date. Would like to be able to contact Mr Santos, though!!!

    Hi Colin
Not sure about the backhoe availability. It is the Valencia municipal one and was obtained as a personal favor by a good friend of ours who is the municipal engineer up here! Dhing's number is 09209248349. Good luck with your project - let me know how you get on! Cheers - Barry

I see you're from my neck of the woods - Wirral! Wallasey more specifically, in my case! Cheers - Barry

Is there a height restriction on the Fence? (Block Wall)
I have noticed along the Highway to Dumaguete the Walls vary in height, one wall I saw beside a river would have to be close to 20 feet tall! :jawdrop: But it appears they have buildings attached so would probably contribute to stability.

I am hoping to erect a wall and storage shed before thinking of building a house and have wondered how high you are allowed to go... :o o:

I have learnt here; that just because this is their trade, it does not make them proficient in that trade, very frustrating when you explain in minute detail what it is you want and come back to something totally different! Then; hurt feelings abound when you try to rectify the problem which do not help. I think Barryrio took the right course of action in this (what appears to be) very quality build... Well done!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Brian! What you say is absolutely correct. And without wishing to offend anyone, I would be very wary of using family for family's sake - unless they also come recommended by an independent party! In my case, I was very lucky to receive and heed very sound advice from people who knew the local situation and the options available. That I feel is crucial in ensuring a successful outcome rather than a disaster. And yes, we have been very happy with our builder and have used him for several other extensions and smaller jobs since. His service has been as good as ever. Very happy.

I am facing the same dilema - Some requests: Could you point me in the direction of the municipal architect who developed your blue prints (like you I have floor plans drawn to dimension but need construction blueprints); Could you please PM your contractors contact information. If you are willing to share - excluding lot and backfill, approximately how much did your project cost.
    Thank you, Jamie Moffat
