Was having drinks with friends yesterday at Why Not, i was introduced to a person who later in the afternoon got very very drunk and passed out at the table, and this is where the the incident starts to unfold. It is now 5pm and guest are starting to arrive for dinner, and in order to get inside to the Restaurant they have to walk pass this person who is now starting to vomit, i brought this to the attention of the security guard who in turn got the attention of a waitress and she came with some newspapers and cleaned up the mess. Ten minutes later more vomit, this time the same waitress came with a mop and a bucket of water mess cleaned up again, but this time some patrons are starting to leave. The drunk person now falls of his chair and is now laying on the floor, the security guard helps him up and a waitress brings him a glass of water which he knocks of the table breaking the glass, and he is now passed out again, and be d*mn about 15 minutes he vomits again, and yes the same waitress with the mop and bucket cleans up the mess for the third time. It was at this point i asked to speak to Management but was told the manager was gone home, but a supervisor was on duty and lo and behold she was the lady who stood and watched this all unfold over a 1 hour time frame. I asked her if there was a policy in place on how to deal with this type of situation, her answer no sir, so what are you going to do now, her answer nothing sir. '' Yes indeed it is more fun in the Philippines''

What would be the appropriate thing to do with a person like that if the staff doesn't know who the guy is or where he lives? Call the police? They have better things to do than deal with a drunk loser. (I'd personally pay the P15 for a trike to take him to the hospital and let him wake up in the ER with a large medical bill, or at the very least just dump him on the steps of the hospital.)

You were introduced to him by someone? I assume a friend of his? Why not give him a call and tell him to come deal with the pathetic loser and then tell him to never introduce you to any more of his friends.

As easy as it is to blame the lowest level person (I did not see you doing that), or even the floor manager that may be stuck with the problem , the real problem is MANAGEMENT, and MANAGEMENT TRAINING OF EMPLOYEES, which I real do not think exists in most cases here.

If you get good service somewhere, anywhere you can be sure you had a wise and smart employee, and they should be appreciated because their behavoir is instinctual, not trained into them.

Good idea. He may be having a reaction to the alcohol (diabetic perhaps) or he may have eaten something besides alcohol that made him sick or he may just need a blood transfusion to replace the alcohol in his arteries with real blood. :-)

Before i arrived there this person introduced himself to my friends and asked if he could join the table they knew him for all of about 2 hours before i was introduced to him, it was discovered later after my friends had all left that he lived about 4 hours north of Dumaguete and he was in the city because his wife had surgery in the morning at Holy Child Hospital so while she was in the recovery room he decided to go to a bar and get pissed. When a trike was called for him he requested to be taken to the hospital because that is where he was going to be sleeping that night, and to the best of my knowledge that is where the trike driver took him.

Wow, I feel sorry for his wife. Dealing with that level of alcoholism has to be rough on her and the family.

Funny how different people get a different take on the exact same words. I read it that he is puking all over because he is not used to drinking so much and he is probably drinking so much because he is worried sick about his wife being in the hospital. But since you seem to know more about alcoholism than I do I must admit your explanation sounds plausible.

Sounds more like a guy that has absolutely no control over how much alcohol he consumes (alcoholism) than a worried husband. A worried husband would not have left the recovery room to go self-medicate his depression/worry with alcohol if the situation was so dire.

    :meh: Uh huh.

Here is my basic understanding of alcoholism (aka drug addiction):

The guy sounds like he has a serious drinking problem if he is drinking so much that he passes out in a restaurant and starts vomiting on himself and the table. Chances are he was an older man....if wisdom truly does come with age then he should have known that drinking yourself d*mn near into a coma won't do a d*mn thing to cure your anxiety/depression nor will it help your wife recover any faster (it will probably do the opposite since she is sitting in the hospital by herself worried what happened to her husband that just went out for a bite to eat). So, IMHO, he is either an alcoholic, a moron.....or both.

Another example of buyer beware, they will let him run a large tab regardless.
The guy made a foolish mistake with no wife there to kick his @ss.
Why not has to own partial responsibility for the ugly scene, embarrassing to us all.
Then again, we all make mistakes here sooner or later so I say give him a pass. A bad hangover and his wife's big medical bill may have a sobering impact.
