    A LOOONNNG read but a real eye opener! Makes you wonder what would happen if Bongbong was elected as president, seems to be a way of life that just keeps on going on... Corruption at every level including US Presidents and other countries leaders, I would love to know just how deep the rot went involving corrupt officials from abroad. :o o:

    Just finished reading the article. Pointing to US/foreign officials as the cause (which plenty of people did in the comments section...and the article attempted to do) is disingenuous. It was the Marcos family that stole all the money, not foreign politicians. Sure, foreign politicians might have turned a blind eye, or even offered advice/assistance in hiding the money, but it was the Marcos family (and their Filipino political allies) that should take the blame. Also, the Filipino people elected him and allowed the family to steal billions....they need to recognize and understand that their votes have consequences. This is not something that they can point the finger and blame someone else. They are ultimately responsible for the state of their country...yet they continue to vote exactly the same way, refusing to learn from the past.

    I agree with what you have said, but I have to wonder why he was given asylum with his track record? I tell all the family here that he is the reason they live in poverty, and each and every thug/crook they vote in also contributes to their poverty, and I cannot see Bongbong doing anything differently but walk in the same shoes... All 1000+ pairs of them!

    Like Franco of Spain, Marcos was good for the people as long as the real cash went in his pocket. My MIL
    said once some years ago, say what you want, we never starved like today & living under the Japs was even Harder than the ragamuffins in charge today

    In 1797, the French people had had enough of this type of excess and corruption. I wonder how that would translate into Tagalog?

    A new twist on an old saying: The devil you can control is better than the devil you can't.

    Going by the French solution;
    Guillotine (Google) translates to;
    Tagalog: Pamugot = Guillotine
    Cebuano: Gipunggotan ug ulo = Beheaded

    I am sure that was how the French dealt with corruption back in the day and it seemed to work out okay for them... :wink: I wonder if they implemented the same solution here if it would make honest members of the current crop of Governmental Officialdom? :biggrin:

    Didn't the French go from one extreme government (a corrupt/worthless monarchy?) to a different type of extreme government (a ruthless military dictatorship?) during that time? I don't think all those beheadings really did much good for the country in the long haul.

    Note: I didn't pay attention too much in history (especially French history *yawn* :yawn: getting tired just thinking about it :troll:).
