MANILA - The US Embassy warned its citizens on Sunday about "unsubstantiated yet credible" reports of kidnappings in Central Visayas.

"The US Embassy has received unsubstantiated yet credible information that terrorist groups may attempt to conduct kidnappings in Central Visayas, which includes both Cebu and Bohol provinces," the embassy said in a statement posted on its website.

US citizens were advised to "carefully consider this information as you make your travel plans, and to review personal security plans, avoid large crowds and gatherings, and remain vigilant at all times."

The Embassy added that there is an ongoing "threat of terrorist actions and violence" against American citizens and interests abroad, including the Philippines, as stated in a "Worldwide Caution" released last March.

"Extremists have targeted sporting events, theaters, markets, mass transportation systems–including airlines, and other public venues where large crowds gather. Crowded nightclubs, shopping malls, buses and popular restaurants have also been targets," the travel warning read.

"US citizens should be mindful of the importance of taking preventative measures to ensure their safety and security while traveling and residing in the Philippines."

This is not the first time that the US Embassy warned Americans about travelling to the Philippines.

Earlier last December, it urged its citizens to anew to avoid all non-essential travel to Sulu province due to "continued terrorist threats, insurgent activities, and kidnappings.

I wonder if the mayors will call BS on this warning like the did the last one....and then have to eat crow whenever they get the same intel later.

Travel to that region of the Philippines has been irresponsible and dangerous for decades. Avoid predominately Muslim controlled areas at all times no matter what country you are in, regardless of current threat warning. Their religion is not compatible with today's civilized world and if you go there and get kidnapped you have no one to blame but yourself. No tears will be shed for you by this guy when you get your head cut off.

The people of the UK predominantly have one view and the rulers have another. The people live in amongst the society created for them by their rulers whilst the rulers live in isolation in their multi-million pound houses on exclusive estates. If (or when) things go "bang", the rulers have 'lifeboats' in the form of houses abroad (some in countries that will be VERY kind to them for past services!) but the ordinary man will be left to sink. But if the ordinary man tries to explain his situation he is told he is racist and that he is committing a criminal offence ... so he has to shut up and put up with it.

I didn't think it too surprising that the comment section in all the links I provided were either disabled or removed completely. (Normally that website gets a whole lot of personal opinions in the comment section. I take it they started to get a lot of "opinions" that offended the bleeding hearts in charge of your country.)

INABANGA, Bohol-There was an ongoing firefight between joint police and military team and at least 10 armed men on board two separate bancas in Barangay Napo, Inabanga town, Bohol.

Superintendent George Vale, head of Police Community Relations Office at the Bohol Police Provincial Office,
said he could not tell if the armed men were part of a group who planned to stage kidnappings in Central Visayas.

He said the armed men were sighted onboard in two motorbancas near the river in Barangay Napo in this town. Residents saw these men on Monday night. They alerted the police office to verify these men.

Yesterday afternoon the Army sent some troops down to beach for a look around near my place(Bacong Dauin boundary). Those guys don't usually travel around without a reason.
This does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
