Sounds like this is what is needed in the 'South' as a 'Wake-up Call'... U.S. drops 'Mother of all Bombs' in Afghanistan. U.S. drops 'mother of all bombs' in Afghanistan - Pentagon
*sigh* I hate the news. They are making this out to be more than what it is and politicizing the sh*t out of this. It is a large air blast bomb that uses the ambient air as an oxidizer for a sustained shockwave to burn/asphyxiate anyone in a confined area/bunker/tunnel (this is why the video of the MOAB "Massive Ordnance Air Blast" didn't look like a 11 ton bomb being dropped in the test video)or to remove large areas of foliage. It is not a bomb that is intended to destroy terrestrial structures (though it will do that). Bombs with their own oxidizers have a much more destructive blast and are better suited for that job. Its use likely has more to do with the tunnel system being large enough to justify its use than it does about Trump sending a message. Also, Trump recently bitched on Twitter about the massive amount of money wasted in Afghanistan....yet he just (allegedly, I'm not sure he had anything to do with it) ordered the dropping of a $14M bomb to kill a couple dozen people in caves. P.S. what will happen when someone tells Trump that Russia's largest conventional bomb is bigger.....and called "the father of all bombs".
.."he just (allegedly, I'm not sure he had anything to do with it) ordered the dropping of a $14M bomb to kill a couple dozen people in caves. " Actually nobody knows the exact cost of the MOAB or its program- quoted from the daily caller- "The giant bomb U.S. forces dropped Thursday on an ISIS training camp in Afghanistan did not cost $314 million to develop, or $16 million per unit as reported by multiple news outlets. The actual cost of the bomb is unknown. The actual cost of the program isn’t publicly available because the Mother of All Bombs, officially known as GBU-43 or the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), is manufactured by the military and not a private defense company. In fact, the Air Force doesn’t even keep track of the per unit cost, nor the cost of the program as a whole, because it is not manufactured privately." The article goes on to say-- "Every news report about cost of the “Mother of All Bombs” relied on a misreading of a 2011 article or a dubious internet website that InfoWars once linked to with a “healthy bit of skepticism.” InfoWars wrote this disclaimer when it wrote up Deagel’s report: “…we publish this report with some hesitation and a healthy bit of skepticism, yet find it compelling enough given the current global environment that it may be of interest to readers.” " Generally I believe that if we are going to try to kill the "bad guys" it is better to do where the expense if fiscal vs our/allied casualties..IMHO
