Just curious how "experienced" DI forum expats are. The poll is private, your answers will not be made public. If you wish to let everyone know feel free to share in a reply.

Myself: First came to the Philippines in 2005.

Will probably do a separate poll for years in Dumaguete.

First time there was in 2009 when we moved there (sight unseen for me and our daughter) and lived there until my daughter and I moved back to the U.S. in 2015.

Wondering also which city/municipality you did visited first.

Mine was Davao City in 2008. And it was good to get there first. A visit in Manila would had been resulted in a complete wrong image of the Philippines.

I was a bad boy (and 22 years old), Angeles City. But there is more to do there than the bars and women....and I have proof that I did that some of that stuff too.

Pinatubo, driving up to Pinatubo, my first time seeing "Catsup" (and first time eating a Jollibee burger :vomit:), first time seeing people riding one of those. Also remember that I had a phone and a camera back then. The batteries in that camera were the double A type....not rechargeable. :hilarious: sh*t...I'm getting old.

BTW, I had to go to my old Myspace profile to find those pictures....and did you know that Myspace is still a fairly popular "thing"? :wideyed:

Edit: I added another option to the poll for those that have not yet visited the Philippines.

Lived in Valenzuela (northern edge of Metro Manila/southern Bulacan province) while attending school here on the US GI Bill from 1985-1989. Here for the "People Power" revolution which resulted in Marcos' departure. Married my wife in 1987 (30 years this June), first visited Dumaguete in 1988 on the way to meet her parents who lived "down by the river" in Pagatban, Bayawan. Was not back until 2009, but have been visiting every 2-3 years since then.

During the UK hand Over Years of HK to the Chinese( 1996/1997) we (the Flight) spent many days on R & R here (mainly in the Manila Area) After the Handover July 1997 I spent 6 months on leave here just doing nothing really but Decided I would like to retire here, My job After Demob brought me back and I met my Wife through that job in 2001. The next few years was spent it seems on constant Travel. We married in 2009 and Settled in her Home City Dumaguete. After my Stroke in 2012 I decided that all the Travel (Over many flights already) was going to affect me So I called it a day in Europe and settled here Full time
